Looking Back:
This comic is the first to mention Xain, although not by name. Back when I was first planning out the comic I decided that Brendan and May would travel together since, in general, humor based comics tend to work better if there's at least a couple of character together in most strips so they can play off of each other. Anyway, once I had made that decision I knew that, now that the main character and rival from the game would be sharing the 'main character' roll I'd need a new rival to fill in. I could have used a character from the games but I thought it would be more fun, and better for the story, if I used someone original. This strip also hints at May and Xain's relationship. If she'd rather leave home for an extended period of time than see him you know something is wrong. |
