| Looking Back: My previous attempt at making thought bubbles in Paint looked pretty bad so I decided to take a simpler approach this time and it worked fairly well. Of course, now I could do something way better in Photoshop, except I haven't had the need to do many thought bubbles lately... Anyway, May's thoughts show that Xain does have some reason to dislike her. Even if she didn't consciously try to one-up him in everything, it did happen which is bound to tick most people off eventually. This strip also marks Cali's first appearance, and shows that she's just as annoying as Xain. In retrospect, I'm not entirely happy with her greeting but it works. Cali is, of course, a recolored and modified May sprite. Her sprite sheet took longer to make than Xain's. Aside from the recolor I removed May's bandana and modified the hairstyle a bit. From a side view like this I mostly just changed the highlights and drew in some hair to replace what the bandana had covered but the front and back views needed a lot more work since the front shows off her part more and her hair is longer than May's in the back. I also feel like mentioning that, for no particular reason, I really like how her sprites turned out. |
