Torchic seems to know what its doing more than Brendan does at this point, using focus energy on its own. And Brendan shows that, despite his lack of experience with pokémon, he does know what some attacks do. Which, considering how large a roll pokémon play in all aspects of the world, really isn't that surprising. He also shows how much he doesn't know. If you think about it for a second it should be obvious that throwing the potion at torchic shouldn't work. On the other hand, you can't blame him too much. Think about it, in games you always see the characters throwing potions or tossing them up in the air or something like that and they just magically activate. Realistic, no. But if that's all you see you'd probably try it too. |
