Looking Back:
It's kind of surprising how many people in the pokémon world like to hand out free stuff to any trainer who happens to talk to them. Of course, a lot of that stuff isn't especially great, but free is free I suppose. In regards to fishing rods, there's typically several tiers you collect over the course of the game (all as gifts, you can't buy them anywhere). The old rod is always the first one, and never all that useful seeing as it generally can only catch magikarp, and maybe goldeen depending on the game. That's probably why it's being given away for free. |
