| Looking Back: In retrospect, I'm a little surprised that I didn't just make this a PV Blooper Reel strip. I mean, it certainly fits the whole Blooper Reel formula. Naturally magikarp was chosen since it's literally the most useless pokémon in the game. While some other pokémon have worse stats, magikarp's are pretty bad. But what really makes it horrible is that until level 15 the only move it knows is splash, which is the only move in the game that does absolutely nothing. Sure magikarp evolves into gyrados at level 20, but until then it's horrible. So yeah, magikarp is without question the least impressive and least intimidating pokémon that could possible come out of that pokéball. Which is, of course, exactly why it's there. But it makes you wonder why the black suit guys have a magikarp in the first place, considering that the rest of their parties seems to be composed of powerful high level (and rather rare) pokémon. Maybe they stopped to go fishing on their way there... You may notice that, unlike in most PV strips where the energy coming out of the pokéball conforms to the shape of the pokémon being released, the energy in this strip is just a big blob. Though a bit inconsistant, I did that on purpose to avoid giving away the joke a panel early. |
