Looking Back:
There are some games where the NPCs don't stay in one place. Instead, they wander around (often following some sort of daily schedule), moving from place to place. Sometimes, they even disappear for a while (going into their homes or some such). That's far far more realistic than having all the NPCs essentially rooted to their spots and can really add to the atmosphere of the game world. It can also be really annoying when you need to talk to a particular NPC and can't find him (or worse, have to wait around for him to wake up, finish work, or some such). |
