Looking Back:
If you've played Pokémon, you probably recognize that little bush as one that you need to use the HM move Cut on. Doing so will make your pokémon slice it up, opening the path. Thing is, it's a really dinky little bush so it's hard to imagine why people can't just squeeze around it. Of course, Pokémon is hardly the only game series guilty of blocking the player's path with something any three year old could make their way past. This also helps establishes May's "do it by the book, even if it doesn't make sense" personality trait.
