Looking Back:
This is an odd strip. Not because of the art or the aftermath of the explosion, but because it's the only non Blooper Reel Strip that breaks the 4th wall. Just in case you're not familiar with the term, the 4th wall was originally a stage term. It refers to an imaginary wall that separates the actors from the audience. Breaking the 4th wall is when characters in a fictional work (be it a play, web comic, or whatever) address the audience directly or do something else showing that they know that their world isn't real. To use the example at hand, the second black suit guy is asking his partner if he read strip 109. Asking if he remembered their past conversation about the helmet would be fine but mentioning the strip itself is definitely breaking the 4th wall.
Some web comics break the 4th wall constantly, others never do, and some just push against it from time to time. When I made Pebble Version my plan was to leave the 4th wall alone in the main comic and that's a goal I've stuck to, with the single exception of this strip. I guess I figured that this joke would be funny enough to be worth breaking the rules for. Now though I'm not really sure if that was such a great idea or not. Maybe I should have just saved it for a Blooper Reel Strip...
