Monster Rancher RP

Post by Doodleshark »

In a different world, a world where humans lived, played, and worked alongside monsters, a man leaves his village with a desire to explore the unknown. Eventually, he come to an overgrown temple in the middle of a jungle. What entered the temple was a person filled with excitement and joy. What came out... was pure evil.
What came out was Moo.
Moo began a reign of terror across the land, capturing humans as slaves, and turning good monsters into baddies. As Moo's empire grew, a rumour spread among the oppressed, the rumour of a legendary monster called the Phoenix, that had the power to defeat Moo and turn all the baddies back into good monsters. Full of hope, several brave adventurers have left their homes to find the Phoenix and end Moo's reign of terror.
To this day, none of them have succeeded.

Meanwhile, in another world called Earth, several people have disappeared while playing a new video game called Monster Rancher...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here is what your character sheet should look like:
Human Profile-
Name: (I certainly hope your character has a name...)
Gender: (Yeah... typical profile stuff.)
Age: (There's certainly no age limit, but it would be nice if you weren't four years old as I can't picture a four year old as an official AGIMA Breeder...)
Appearance: (We're going for an MR4/MRA2/Anime time period. Judging by Holly's appearance in the anime and MRA2 And Karnab's appearance in A2 and 4, I'm gussing they're all the same. EVO character definitely looked cooler, but...)
Personality: (Usually I'm fine with 'played out', but this time I'd like to see something here... it may or may not be important.)
History: (Why on earth is yoiur character raising monsters when they could very well have become a lawyer, doctor, etc.?)
Current Rank: (From lowest to highest, E, D, C, B, A, S. It would be nice if we started at the lower end, but you don't necessarily have to be E.)
Fighting Skill (if any): (I mean, you CAN have a human character that's capable of fighting. Who knows; we may be dealing with all kinds of jerks in the future, so there's no gurantee that it'll always end up Monster vs. Monster. But if you want to have a NORMAL human rancher that knows to run for it if there's a Dragon about to use Salamander... that would kind of make more sense.)
Font Color: (It's always nice to have these for clarification.)
Monster Profile-
Name: (None of this 'Mocchi' and 'Golem' and 'EaredMew' business. I mean actual names.)
Breed: (There are hundreds of species if you count all the sub-breed possibilities. It would be nice if we could get the SPecies name, then Main/Sub... like AlohaSaurian: Zuum/Plant)
Gender: (Though the anime didn't make it seem like it, Monsters can come in either gender... it seemed like the only female monsters were Pixies.)
Age: (In the games, they could usually only train and fight for about five years, then they had to Retire... But we're going to do away with that because it sucked. Gimme the human years.)
Appearance: (Ideally, we all know what the monsters look like or have a way of finding out *cough-legendcup.com-cough* but you can always spiff 'em up a bit, MR3-style. ...MR3 was the only game to have an Accessory System. It was flippin' awesome, too; you could like, put a spike ball at the end of a Tiger's tail and it would make it's Tail Attack stronger, or you could give your Zuum Sunglasses, or you Mocchi a Captain's hat, or...)
Personality: (Still kind of important...)
History: (Should include which Breeder they're allied with. Like I said, five monsters a ranch, but two monsters a person so our cast isn't huge.)
Fighting Style: (Power-based like Golem, Intelligence based like Suezo, or somewhere in between like Tiger?)
Skills: (The ways to get new attacks and the attacks themselves change every game, basically... so you can pull from wherever. If You want to give your Tiger Lightning Attack and Tiger Combo, go right ahead. If you don't know what kind of attacks a monster gets, just ask... I've been playing these games for long enough, I should be able to give you something for any breed.)
Statistical Strengths/Weaknesses: (Power, Intelligence, Accuracy, Defense, Speed, and Life. You don't need numbers or anything, just a basic idea of what it's good at and what it's not.)
Font Color: (It doesn't have to be, but it'd be nice if it was similar to the Breeder's because then are are more colors available for other characters. On top of that, it's easier to remember that way.)
--OMG Silver was here!!1! Changed the profile around a bit; made it different for humans and monsters.
It was lonely... you promised you'd write to me, but you never did... the months passed by, and I still thought of you every day, but you never called. I never got any letters from you.
So eventually, I started to lose faith... I thought you had been killed in that terrible, terrible war. Or maybe that you had forgotten about me. It's been so long, you probably found another girl over there... I never stopped loving you, but I didn't think you cared about me anymore, so welcoming you back just would have been too painful for me... I'm sorry. I'm glad you've come back home *sniff*
...Er...there doesn't seem to be any place for monster....ranchers.... only monsters and people who fight. 'Cause I'd really like to join as one of them....
Oops, sorry.
Yeah, that's fine. Sorry for not being too clear about that.\
It's mostly based on the anime.
Yes, I'm well aware, I watched the anime as a child...it was mostly about monster...ranchers....
Anyway, so what'd be the max amount of monster one could have?
Yeah, people don't have to fight.
Um.....
Two or three, maybe?
I haven't played the games, so sorry if the RP seems rather... inaccurate.
It would be kind of rude to start without him. So I guess we'll start when he gets back.
"Irregardless" and "Over exaggerated" are NEVER CORRECT EVER because they are redundant
Regardless means "without regard", and adding "ir" on the front actually makes it a double negative; exaggerate means "to overstate" so you're literally saying "over overstate."
Example: I can not exaggerate the importance of this fact enough, regardless of how often people ignore it.
Ok, I just realized that... no one has actually filled out the profile. So I took this opportunity to fix it up and I'll start the roleplay a when few other people have joined officially.
For now, here are my characters.
Name: Gin Takuma
Gender: Male
Age: 14
Appearance: I actually have a picture... I'll post it later. (But why on earth would Silver have a picture of a charcater more than likely only appearing in the Monster Rancher Roleplay? Hmm...)
Personality: He's crazy optimistic to the point that he lacks basic planning skills and common sense in general. This... often results in humorous responses from the victims of his near-constant lapses in judgement; namely, his monsters.
History: Gin's mom was a hot-shot Monster Breeder that headed off to the city to fight in the big leagues. This left Gin and his dad, who was never big on the Monster thing, on an empty ranch. May as well use it, right?
Current Rank: D (Just won the rank E tournament with Tsurugi - expecting a visit from Canute any day *mayonnaise'd*
Fighting Skill (if any): Well, he has these ninja-style Kunai, see? And he tries to immitate a Ripper's attacks with them - Dark Gale, Mute Cutter, that stuff - but he's completely uncoordinated and has worse aim than Brendan. So that's really not much help.
Font Color: Gray
Name: Tsurugi
Breed: Ripper. Just the main breed. Kinda boring, but meh.
Gender: Male
Age: 5
Appearance: Normal Ripper. Need I plug legendcup.com again?
Personality: Tsurugi may seem bitter and angry at the world, but that's really not the case... or at least, it wouldn't be if he didn't spend so much time with Gin. It's kind of hard to deal with someone who can't even think three minutes into the future, you know?
History: Gin's first monster. He started out as more of a pet, but let's face it, Rippers are pretty kick-awesome in battle. They started entering the smaller tournaments prety quickly.
Fighting Style: He tries to rely on his long-distance attack, Mute Cutter. It doesn't do much damage, but it rarely misses and he doesn't have to get within the opponent's strike range.
Skills: Mute Cutter (Think Air Cutter from Pokemon), Phantom (Think Double Team), Ice Pillar (It's... basically that.)
Statistical Strengths/Weaknesses: High Speed and Accuracy, low Defense and Life
Font Color: Gray Italic
Name: Hakushi
Breed: Mogi/Mogi (Mainbreeds are just kind of easier... I've never used a Mogi with a sub-breed.)
Gender: Male
Age: 3
Appearance: Just a Mogi. The big freaky drill-hat is enough.
Personality: Hakushi's pretty much a lazy bum. He doesn't do much fighting or training or anything... except dancing. It's a Mogi thing.
History: You can't compete in Team competitions with only one Monster, so Hakushi joined the crew. He just isn't motivated enough to do anything prodctive... and never has been.
Fighting Style: He's a close-range fighter. That's really all his skills are good for. Aside from that, he's too lazy to even try to dodge attacks, so he'll just take them then hit back.
Skills: Punch-In, Head Bang
Statistical Strengths/Weaknesses: High Power and Defense, low Speed and Intelligence
Font Color: Gray Bold
