Comment on My Team
So, I finally completed my pokédex in the GBA games. All 386 Pokémon and all the unowns. Now that that's taken care of I'm putting the finishing touches on my battle team (leveling, giving PP-Ups, tweaking movesets, etc). A lot has changed since Gold so I decided it was time to swap some moves around and I'm curious to see what people think of this set up. Feel free to post comments, suggestions, criticisims, or whatever.
Also, if anyone else wants to discuss their team, go ahead and post them here.
Venasaur
Holding: Quick Claw
Sunny Day
Solar Beam
Synthesis
Sludge Bomb
Comments: A Sunny Day set up so I can spam Solar Beam and heal good with Synthesis. Sludge Bomb is there for stuff resistant to grass or if I don't have time to use Sunny Day.
Sandslash
Holding: Quick Claw
Slash
Earthquake
Rockslide
Hidden Power (bug)
Comments: Slash and Earthquake both hit really hard, Rock Slide is for flying and levitating guys. HP bug is mainly for grass and psychic types. Sandslash isn't the fastest pokémon, hence the Quick Claw.
Blaziken
Holding: King's Rock
Slash
Flamethrower
Brick Break
Toxic
Comments: Flamethrower is there instead of Fire Blast since I prefer having 100% accuracy over a bit more power. Brick Break is a strong fighting move and both it and Slash can trigger the King's Rock. Toxic is there just incase I run up against something that counters a lot (Wobuffet), has super high defense (Shuckle), or someting like that. I'm half tempted to replace Slash with Seismic Toss but Blaziken's attack is so high so I think Slash might end up doing more damage most of the time.
Starmie
Holding: Leftovers
Surf
Ice Beam
Psychic
Recover
Comments: Starmie can take on nearly anything with this move set and with both Recover and Leftovers (plus its high defense and special defense), it's pretty hard to kill.
Jolteon
Holding: Lax Incense
Thunderbolt
Shadow Ball
Hidden Power (ice)
Double Kick
Comments: I was hoping that Jolteon's Hidden Power would be water to take out rock and ground types but ended up with ice instead so I have HP to take out ground types and double kick for rock and steel. Shadow Ball is for phychics and combos well with Jolteon's speed since most psychics are pretty fast. Jolteon nearly always hits first with its speed and the Lax Incense reduces the opponent's accuracy, to try and compensate for Jolteon's low defense.
Mew
Holding: Shell Bell
Body Slam
Psychic
Shadow Ball
Softboiled
Comments: Mew is meant to take on nearly anything. The Shell Bell gives it some healing when it attacks and there's Softboiled if it needs a strong heal. Shadow Ball gives it a strong weapon against ghosts and other psychics while Body Slam and Psychic are just all around good attacks that work on most types. Basically Mew acts as a wild card.
Salamenace (replaces Mew if I can't use legendaries)
Holding: Shell Bell
Dragon Claw
Flamethrower
Crunch
Fly
Comments: Can't always use legendaries in battle so Salamenace can swap for Mew. Shell Bell is for healing and goes good with Salamenace's high attack. Dragon Claw is a good attack that nothing is resistant too and it's 20 points stronger than Dragon Breath (although DB has a chance of paralysis). Crunch and Fly are strong attacks and work against a lot of stuff. Fly is a bit stronger than Arial Ace and, even though it takes two turns, there isn't much that can hit you during one of them. Flamethrower is for taking out Salamenace's biggest weakness, ice types.

Revival much?
Basically what I'm getting at is my opinion of competetive battlers decreases every time I see a moveset. Pidgeot almost always has Toxic and Whirlwind. Honestly, why on EARTH would you waste two spaces like that?
...And, um, looks fine to me...
I wouldn't. This is what they'd tell you: OMG THEY LIEK ALL HAV ALL ATTCKS!1!! THATS ILEGAL!!one!! U NEED TO GIV THEM SOME COMPLETELY USELESS STAT BOOSTING ATTACKS SO WE CAN BEET U!!!!bet someone would slam it on gamefaqs I'd post it there and see what they have to say

"Irregardless" and "Over exaggerated" are NEVER CORRECT EVER because they are redundant
Regardless means "without regard", and adding "ir" on the front actually makes it a double negative; exaggerate means "to overstate" so you're literally saying "over overstate."
Example: I can not exaggerate the importance of this fact enough, regardless of how often people ignore it.

Hey, stat boosting/lowering moves are useful!
Eh. I hate legendaries. And overused stuff. That bias notwithstanding, it's fine.

Or, you know, you could do the awesome thing and reduce their accuracy. So you can hit them a bunch without so much as a scratch. I've beaten quite a few people in IPA using Lucca's smokescreen.

Once again, you're only gonna get like a 5-15% reduction though. So they'll still hit you most of the time. There's always the chance you'll get lucky and they'll miss a lot but considering the odds I still think it's better to spend your turn attacking or using a useful status (sleep, paralyze, etc) rather than using a stat reduction move.

Ok, this is the team I plan on using when I battle my brother and friends when I come back hom in the summer. We are doing Lv 75 team with no Legends. What do you guys think of the team?
1) Kangaskhan
Reversal
Dizzy Punch
Mega Punch
Crush Claw
Comments: Over all a good pokemon to have unless going aginst fighting. But If it survives attacks aginst it and when it's low on HP Reversal is there to make stronger then normal attaks.
2) Lickitung
Holding: Quick Claw
Fire Blast
Toxic
Substitute
Focus Punch
Comments: Has abit higher special then attack so added Fire Blast to the mix. Substitute is used one turn and then Focus Punch the next turn. That way Focus Punch will hit (as long as the clone doesn't break) next turn even if you are hit (need to test still)
Side Note: If Lickitung doesn't work out, I'm using Primape.
3) Blissey
Fire Blast
Blizzard
Thunder
Counter
Comments: This Blissey has Serine Grace so each of the Elementals has a 60% chance of causing it's effect. Has high special attack as well. Counter is used just incase a phisical attack is made. Most physical attacks won't finish it off (depending on remaining hp) so Counter will almost surely ko anyone or leave it very weak.
4) Tyranitar
Hyper Beam
Earthquake
Crunch
Rock Slide
Comments: Standard move set. Useful aginst most pokemon.
5) Milotic
Hydro Pump
Recover
Mirror Coat
Hidden Power???/ Blizzard
Comments: Recover to restore HP. It has a high spec def so Mirror Coat will most likly ko most electric or grass that try to attack it. I'm debaiting on Hidden Power depending on what type it will be. If it's not a useful one (aka effective aginst Fire) then Blizzard will be used.
6) Metagross
Psychic
Metor Mash
Shadow Ball
Aerial Ace
Comments: Psychic and Metor Mash are good strong attacks for both it's types. Shadow Ball for any Ghost or Psychic that I might fight and Aerial Ace for a supprise aginst anything weak to flying.

Not a bad set up although I think you're focusing a little too heavily on normal type pokémon. A good fighting type would have a decent chance of taking out half your team. Also, in my opinion, you should add moves from a few more elements although that's kinda a personal preference thing.
Finally, this is also totally personal preference but instead of using the big 'do the most damage but only hit 3/4 of the time' moves like Fire Blast and Hydro Pump, I like using the slightly weaker ones with 100% accuracy like Flamethrower and Surf. But, like I said, that's just my own perference.

Well did the fights and this team won overall. Milotic gave both the people I was fighting a hard time thanks to it's attacks and Sp Def. I decided to use Ice Beam over Blizzard. The Sub Punch combo works very nicly on Licky as long as the first hit doesn't do over 3/4 hp damage. Going to evolve it now :)
