This is my Haibane Renmei fan character. The most interesting thing about Haibane Renmei is the fact you can create characters with no history. There characters develop as they live and adapt to there new world. I loved the idea that the character would be free to evolve as I though up her scenario. I probably wont write fan fiction or make a fan comic until I have seen all of the anime.
So far I have developed this characters dream and her appearance in the Haibane old home. I've not decided what time scale her arrival would be. Should I have her interact with the anime characters or set it before/ after the anime and have her come into a world of Haibane that don't exist in the present.
The characters name is Akai, which means red. Her dream inside the cocoon was a nightmare about a river of blood in which she was pushed in by a wolf also covered in blood. When asked about her dream by the other Haibane, all she can remember was a red river. Thus she is named 'Akai'.
Akai's cocoon appeared in a storage room at the edge of old home, an area rarely visited by the Haibane because of a wall collapse. Akai awakes alone and can't get out of the room. She tries to dig her way out but fails. After a while, her wings burst from her back as she passes out. Akai is found a few days later almost by accident by a young feather exploring then ruins.
The other Haibane tend to Akai as she remains unconscious. They try to clean her wings but the blood and grease were not cleaned of straight away like the other Haibane, and the wings are stained a burnt red.
Akai is reluctant to take the halo and point blank refuses to except the name 'Akai'. She tells the other to call her 'No name' until she remembers her old name. She is reclusive and sharp tongued. She often lashes out at the other Haibane, but they are excepting of her initial behaviour as they relate it to her trauma right after her birth. The birth from the cocoon and wing sprouting is traumatic enough with the other haibane there, but she was all alone for days. Not to mention her wings are ruined as well as her horrible nightmare have made Akai fearful of everything. Her fear leads to anger, which leads to aggressive behaviour (no star war jokes).
I'll develop Akai more as I decide what she will experience. It will most likely involve her shaking of her fear and trusting.
Reki's birth has heavily inspired Akai's story.
