~Chapter 3: Ties that Bind~

( Looks like this is going to be a "MeanWhile" post... ^^;; )

MEANWHILE...

Dragoon led Simeon into a dark room, disabled the security cameras, and removed his helmet, revealing a stern young man underneath. He then turned on a radio and placed his helmet over it.

"Now they can't hear us, Simeon."

"... Lance?"

"It's me, old friend. The one before 'Project: Archetype.' You do remember?"

Simeon held his head as it throbbed. "I don't remember... I wish I can..."

"I'm sorry, Simeon..." Lance placed a remorseful, armored hand on Simeon's shoulder.

"It's okay... I can sense sincerity. You are my friend here, Lance." Simeon gave Lance a warm smile, then regained his composure, "Just one question, old friend."

"Yes?"

"How did you manage to come to your senses after all this time?"

"It was what you said after I speared you..."

Dragoon glared at the limp figure he had just impled to a tree. Lighting crashed in the distance, evoking a dark mood.

"Any last words you wish for me to report, Alpha?"

Simeon slowly raised his head and looked Dragoon square in the eyes, "Lance... I forgive you."

"It was the first time in a long time that I knew and felt remorse. I ran away, leaving you skewered to that tree, not knowing what to do... I returned, not sure I had killed you, and reported that you were terminated. For four years, I had faked loyalty to Feral and worked my way up to being Tech Elemental Commander. Apparently, Feral trusts me a great deal... he never keeps tabs on me."

"A blessing."

"Come, Simeon, there are a few things I need to show you." Lance approached a console and turned it on by pressing a few keys on the control panel, "I have been given access to all data because of my status... and it was opened my eyes to many things. I'm logged in, and I use this console regularly... There will be no fear here. I am hoping this will refresh your memories."

Simeon nodded approached the consle and began to scan through the data.

[DATA] 'Elemental' is a nickname for an 'Element Spirit Carrier... 'Element Spirits' are non-sentient, (meaning they cannot think) symbiotic energy beings that require a host to survive... in return for a body, they grant their hosts with awesome powers... Young children are the most receptive to Element Spirits and are ideal hosts as Older humans are not as open-minded... However, Element Spirits can be forced into older people and stolen from other Elementals [/DATA]

"That's interesting... Let's see..."

[DATA] Project: Archetype began as research on Element Spirits. It soon developed into an underground weapons program, disguised as a search for an alternate power source. The Project was aborted when a Prototype, Designation "Alpha," escaped after destryoing an undergound bunker that stored Spirit Orbs. Prototype Alpha is believed to have been terminated by Prototype Dragoon. [/DATA]

"There's more..."

"Hmn?"

[DATA] Project: Hunter was created after Archetype was botched. The prototype for Hunter escaped after killing everyone in the lab it was being tested in. A very powerful, experimental, Altered Element Spirit was used for the Hunter prototype.[/DATA]

"There's a footnote here- oh... hell"

"What?"

[DATA] DNA testing during Project: Hunter confirms that the test subject is the missing son of Feral Umbreos.[/DATA]

"I had a feeling that black-robed kid in that cell looked familiar... "

A loud explosion was heard following a sarcastic laugh on the Public Announcement System. The computer console flickered then whirred back to life when an isolated power source kicked in. Something was blinking on the screen. Simeon opened it.

[DATA] Project: Alpha Leo. Status: In progress. Goal: To create a hunter for a hunter. Subject: To be recovered. [/DATA]

"Lance? Do you know about this?"

"No... I don't... Simeon... If you're thinking what I'm thinking this means... You have to run... and fast. I'll stall as long as I can."

"I can't risk that, old friend... you're coming with me."

"No.. I am more help to you here... Now go, while Master Feral's son is keeping the guards busy. Now..." Lance handed Simeon back his spear, "... Hit me in the head and hard."

"Lance..."

"It'll give us both and alibi. Feral trusts me too much to doubt me. Now... quickly..."

"I'll come back for you, Lance. I promise."

*WHACK!*

Simeon wrecked the room to make it look like a struggle and turned invisible, stealing away. He now had another friend to try and rescue.. but first things first... It was time to hunt the hunter...

Later...

Simeon phased through a wall, shocked to see that Spirn had escaped.

?Master Spirn, this isn?t a good place for you to be,? said Simeon, concern in his voice

?I know but I was looking for you. We have to get out of here.?

?Um?Spirn, do you know this guy?? asked the girl with him.

?Yep.? replied Spirn, ?Now let?s get out of here!? 

Simeon picked up both Spirn and the girl and turned them all invisible, then they phased through the floor into a sewer tunnel. Simeon unconsciously copied the girl's powers... "Young miss?"

"Yeah?"

"Which way is the fastest way to the Civic Center?"

"How did you you know I-?"

"No time to explain... I'm trackng down a rogue Elemental. If he's not stopped..."

*BLAM!*

Screams and the sound of crackling energy could be heard in the distance.

"That wasn't too far away..."

"I know... Young miss?"

"It's Kay..." she glanced at her palm map, "This way!" and she ran down the sewer tunnels...

"Dragoon. How's your head?"

"I thought he was trustworthy, sir... I showed him the data like you asked me to and he went ballistic when he saw the new Project: Alpha Leo files. Where did those files come from?"

"Don't worry about it... all is going as I wanted it to for this new project, Dragoon. I'm considering this a test before we bring him in... If he loses to my son, then that's once nuisance less to worry about... "

<Oh... god... Simeon...> Lance prayed, putting his helmet back on, <Be careful, old friend...>

they ran down the sewer tunnels

"OK now, what are we going to do at the civics centre" said Spirn

"No time to explain, hurry" said Simeon

"OK, Kay is there anyone up ahead" asked Spirn

"Not acording to my power" replied Kayna

"It's been awhile brother" said a voice to Spirn

"what the-?" said Spirn "who are you"

"I am your brother, remember your 8th birthday Spirn"

"Well of course but-"

"You left your family to die, I'm the only survivor"

"But-"

"no excuses now die" said his brother as dark energy appeared in his hands

"If a fights what you want, a fights what you'll get"

"Spirn, what wrong" asked Kay

"Someones up ahead" replied Spirn

"but my sense isn't picking up anything" replied Kay

"I saw the future" said Spirn

"YOU WHAT!!" shouted Kay

"Well I saw my brother and" Sprin was interupted by a blast of dark energy

"It's been a while brother" said Spirn's brother

The fight raged quickly... Simeon began to understand the new Element Spirit he absorbed in that orb... he sensed the spirit in Spirn's brother was not a normal Element Spirit. Now would be a good time to use his new skill...

Simeon suddenly vanished from view.

Spirn's brother had just pinned him to the wall and was about to blast Spirn's head into mushy little chunks when Simeon appeared and clamped a glowing paw onto the agressor's head... And Spirn's brother collapsed...

Simeon looked dizzy... "Master Spirn... Lady Kay... Find Trik... I'll catch up." He promptly collapsed afterward.

"What did you do to me?!"

"I'm not all that sure, young master... I was affected by that skill myself. Both of us are now unconscious."

"Then get out of my head so I may punish my deserter brother."

"He did not desert you... Weren't you listening to him? He was -forced- to run away... You of all people must know that by now..." Simeon sighed, "Besides.. we aleady have a berserker Elemental going insane on everyone and we don't need -another- killing off potential help..."

"Then what do you expect me to do, old man? Forgive and forget?"

"They way I see it.. you've had been given years of chances to. Don't pass up this opportunity... You'll regret it."

"Why should I believe that?"

"You said yourself you're that last one alive. Spirn is your only familiy left. At least you have each other... Kill him and you'll be all alone... I see that as reason enough to keep him alive."

A moment of silence passed in the mental void.

"Think it over... I can help you."

Spirn's brother woke and sat up with a headache and questions. Simeon, on the other hand, was not moving. Spirn had refused to leave his protector and was trying to wake the lifeless Simeon up.

<You said yourself you're that last one alive. Spirn is your only familiy left. At least you have each other... Kill him and you'll be all alone... I see that as reason enough to keep him alive... ... Think it over... I can help you.> Simeon's voice echoed in the boy's head as Spirn looked his brother square in the eyes.

<...Don't pass up this opportunity... You'll regret it.>

New Ability: Spirit Purify- (earned) Allows user to tame Altered Element Spirits by entering the mind of the Spirit's host. May make both involved go unconscious. Will get stronger over time.

"That's strange... the power seems to be out at the main lab. I know we've got back up generators, but they're not strong enough to power the whole building for long..."

"Great, so can we go now?"

"No, we'll just have to go to the other lab." They arrived at a second, smaller lab and kicked Silver and Shadow through the door of a poer-proofed room.

"Crap! I can't power up here..." Shadow attempted to fire a Shadow Ball, but it didn't work due to the chemical make up of the walls in the room.

"They put 'em all over the place... I think they're just scared."

"Fine, I don't need powers to do something I've wanted to do for a long time..." Shadow kicked one of the guards... right below the belt.

"I deserved that!"

"Oh, that's gotta hurt..."

"Why didn't I see that coming?" The other guard asked himself before recieving a swift kick... well, ya know. The elementals dashed for the door, which was unguarded at the moment, but re-inforcements were on the way.

"Come on, let's get out of here!"

"Hold on... I want to see what they've got in there."

"But what if they catch us?"

"Catch us? While I'M around? We'll just shadow hop, they won't be able to tell we're there." Shadow disappeared into the shadow of a clock that was sitting on the wall and pulled Silver down with her.

"It's cold down here."

"They'll catch us if you don't shut your mouth."

"Sorry!" They slid around in the shadows oftable, chairs, guns... whatever they needed to to get through the building. "Wait... what the heck is that?" The emmerged from the shadow of a decorative plant (XD) and found themselves in a room with several tubes filled with a strange, green liquid... one of which had a boy inside.

"Well well well... it seems you've stumbled acorss project Omega." A voice from behind them said.

(This is a VISION. Simeon's is NOT with you guys physically...)

<Father... Father... Wake your son... Beginning and End... fight as one...>

Simeon found himself standing in a lab filled stasis tubes. In front of him was a boy of 12 years, floating in one of the tanks. Simeon shivered. It was like staring at a younger version of what he looked like as a human before Project: Archetype.

The boy was asian-looking and seemed to be at peace slumbering.

A familar voice faded into earshot: "... Omega was intended to complement Alpha Leo. When the projects are completed, the two resulting Tech Elementals will usher in a new age of living weapons.... We only found it appropriate that our crowning achivement will end with the clone of Prototype Alpha."

<Father... Father... Wake your son... Beginning and End... fight as one...>

"I have a son..." Simeon thought, "I don't want him to awaken into a world like this... But I may have little choice. I can only hope that I can reach him if we ever meet face-to-face..."

The voice cut in again, "But I can't have you two speaking about this project to everyone... not even Alpha.... GUARDS!"

(And the vision fades out)

"Project Omega has a... unique... ability... far more useful than all my other little toys- it can copy powers permanently simply by watching them once. Its power is virtually limitless. But, I've told you far too much already... so I'll have to do the same thing to you that I did to the scientists that created it. You shall die." The guards came out of a door behind the boss-guy and aimed their plasma rifles (XD)

"It? Looks like a he to me... You humans are all alike. You're-"

"We don't have TIME for a moment!" Shadow interupted, slipping into a guards shadow and pulling Silver down with her.

"Aw... I can't rant on his stupidity at all?"

"Shut up or they'll catch us!"

"Hmph. Did you get that, Omega?" He asked the boy in the tube as if it could hear him. Shockingly, he gave a slight nod. "Perfect..."

*Trik picked the girl up by the shoulder and examined her.*

Paralyzed... Not dead... I would kill her, but i don't have the time currently...

*Trik looked to his right, noticing guards running toward him. To his left, a civilian car driving insanely away from the town. Trik smirked, then threw the girl on the road, a couple of yards in front of the frantic car. The then went to a tree and placed his hand inside the hole, sending loads of electricity into the trunk, disappearing in trap hole*

*Trik exited the elevator and walked toward a large computer. He started typing away at the console.*

Where is that blasted child... He's got to be around here somewhere...

*Behind Trik was the child that he had recently kidnapped, but the child was a Teenager right now. A constant stream of electricity surged through the Boy's body, accelerating the boy's growth, making him age quickly.*

There he is... now... if the fools will just stay out of my way...

*Trik moved back to the elevator and stepped in. The door sealed shut and he slowly lifted back up to the surface...*

He noticed the fight between Trik and the girl, and the paralyzation. The boy quickly darted when Trik moved away. He quickly picked the girl up and ran behind a bush, laying her on the ground. The vehicle from before swerved, then collided with the guards in an explosion... The boy turned visible and looked down to the girl*

The finally reached the exit and emerged from the shadows, and just as the guards prepared to fire, Silver grabbed Shadow by the wrist and dashed off. It's a good thing her feet didn't have to touch the ground, or they probably would have fallen off. "See? Isn't this better then hopping along through the-oof!" Silver bragged, but was cut off as he collided with another person and they both fell to the ground.

"Yep. Much better. At least I can stop..."

"Uh... sorry 'bout that..."

"Now come on! They saw you run, we've gotta get out of here!"

"You don't need to run..."
