Re: Return of the Revenge of the Son of Saying Hi to Josiah!
My Birthday's September 11th. You think anyone's gonna wanna go drinking with me on my birthday ever?
Meh. I finally tried some alcomohols on New Year's. It's gross! It doesn't taste good at all! And I'm talking about the mildest, sweetest wine you can get - I already knew I hated beer and all that stuff. So then my friends all told me to try a Mudslide because it's "like a Chocolate Milkshake". Ok, but... why would I want to drink an alcoholic drink when I can't taste the alcohol? I'd rather just have a regular milkshake. And not pay $12 extra for alcohol that I can't taste.
Seriously though. It was gross.

Regardless means "without regard", and adding "ir" on the front actually makes it a double negative; exaggerate means "to overstate" so you're literally saying "over overstate."
Example: I can not exaggerate the importance of this fact enough, regardless of how often people ignore it.

Hey!
Silver. I would love to go drinking and do shots with you on your birthday. The potential for comedy/getting beat up would be amazing.

Hey.
Ew ew ew EW ew EW wine is gross gross gross. People keep being like "seriously, this wine is sweet" and I'm like "no seriously it's GROSS." I'm not a fan of the taste of alcohol, but, not gonna lie, like the way a few drinks makes me feel. I've never had memory loss due to alcohol or done something I seriously regretted (okay...maybe once, but I've also made decisions I super regretted while sober), so I'm not concerned or anything. Also beer die is a fun game and, if it weren't obvious, beer is kind of an essential component to beer die, so I deal with it.
Slash drinking with you guys would be super fun! There is so much potential for hilarious situations it's cray.

Moi,
I have tasted various alcoholic drinks (with my parents permission, yes), but I have liked almost none of them. The only alcoholic drink I can think of that I like is Creme de Menthe, and that's only when it's in or on something very sweet. I also don't really get what they mean by "sweet wine". It's not sweet, it's nasty.
So, big fluffy snowflakes falling here in New York, and it's quite windy. I think I'll be staying inside for the rest of the day.
Stay radical, people! Dif-tor heh smusma.

Re: Return of the Revenge of the Son of Saying Hi to Josiah!
Hi! My birthday being on New Year's Day, I suppose the hang over from New Year's Eve could be a problem...except that I don't drink because I hate the taste of alcohol. I've tasted a lot of different drinks too, either due to the urging of friends/family, from free samples, or once in a while because something looked really interesting. The only normal drinks I found to be tolerable were umeshu (Japanese plum wine) and this coconut shouchu (a Japanese yam wine). And they're tolerable, not something I'd drink when there are alternatives (like juice, root beer, ginger ale, tea, or water for that matter). There are a few alcoholic drinks I've liked but they're the kind with so much fruit and sugar and stuff that you can't taste the alcohol. And, like Silver said, what's the point there? I could buy a fruit slush (or similar) and get the same taste for a fraction of the price. I've never been drunk, and have no desire to try it. I've seen and hung out with drunk people before and I totally fail to see the attraction. I'm perfectly capable of having fun and enjoying myself without getting drunk (sometimes by laughing at the people who are
) and if I'm depressed (which is rarely an issue for me, but happens once in a while), there are better ways to deal with it than screwing up my judgement and reflexs. So I stay sober and save my money for better things.
As a note, I've got nothing against people who drink. I mean, if you actually like the stuff and you're responsible about it, whatever. But I really don't see the point.

Hey.
I didn't use to see the point to drinking, but now I do. There are still plenty of occasions where I stay sober and watch (slash monitor) the funny drunk people and ensure that they're drinking enough water. And I don't really see the point of buying fancy alcoholic beverages either... I probably wouldn't like them as much as their non-alcoholic counterparts. If I'm going to be drinking, I want to be tispy, too, not just have a drink to try and be classy, or anything.
....yeah, I've given up on trying to make alcohol a classy thing. Can't even pretend I drink it for the taste because, in general, I do not enjoy the taste. Except for some strawberry daiquiris we had at our Hawaii-Space themed happy hour. Those were tasty. Yeah, I drink for the way it makes my head feel and for the fact that it gets me SO much more social. So so SO much mores social. It's lovely. So many more friends!
Alright, back to physics homework. Ta!

I don't drink much but I do enjoy WKD, Smirnoff Ice, Peach Snaps and Lemonade and the odd white wine, even some Pear Ciders are okay. I have a few till a I get a happy buzz then switch to soft drinks till I sober up a little, and repeat. This is when I go out drinking. I normally drive so I have one and then stick to soft drinks. It is cheaper to do that and I can still hang out with my friends. I got drunk and passed out once in my life when I was still just a kid and got scared so I never drank myself stupid like that again. A drunk girl is very vulnerable and I don't like feeling like that, plus you can make an ass of yourself if you drink to much. Having a drink can loosen people up and you can have more fun if you are more relaxed, so I get why people drink, I just don't take it to far.
I myself also hate larger, bitters and vodka. They just aren't nice. I drink the Alcopops LOL, might as well be having a fizzy drink haha

Well this week has been interesting. Everything in the entire world wants to prevent me from sleeping at night and getting anything done. Last night being no exception what with the inflatable mattress that I sleep on possibly shocking me awake. So who wants to bet tonight I'll be woken up by a fire?
Also on the subject of Alcoholic beverages, I still do not drink any. Because I am Straightedge.

Which means I'm better than you.

Hey.
I know it's just joking around, Atma, but on that subject, people who act all smug and superior because they don't drink really irritate me. I 100% respect the decision not to drink, but people who don't drink need accept the fact that people do drink, and that they're no worse people than you solely based on the fact that they drink. They could still entirely be worse people than you for completely unrelated reasons.
Back to class!

I agree with this 100%, but it also irritates me when I'm not drinking and people are trying to push me to drink and calling me a sour puss or party pooper if I refuse. Most of the time I'm driving and they go "why are you out then?"people who act all smug and superior because they don't drink really irritate me.

Re: Return of the Revenge of the Son of Saying Hi to Josiah!
I don't drink because I think it tastes bad. Also, I'm poor. But I don't inherently have any problem with drinking... I mean, it's a gift from God! Or... something. Like, Jesus was all about watching out for us, curing the blind, healing the sick, and telling us all to get along and love each other and stuff. Right? Well, even HE thinks you need to have wine at a wedding. So much so that he miracled up some wine, because it was that important. So really, it can't be all that bad!
But... it was also just for a special occasion. The thing I think a lot of people overlook about alcohol is that you build up a tolerance to it after a while. You'll eventually reach a point where the amount of alcohol that gave you a buzz before won't do anything. So then what? You drink more. You don't feel as drunk as usual, but that BAC still goes up, which means that all the harmful effects it can have on liver and brain cells at high concentrations is still going to happen, no matter how you actually feel.
I do feel like it should be saved for events - birthdays and holidays and all that. Going out drinking every weekend, just because... is only going to make it so that you can't really enjoy a few drinks casually later on.

Hey.
Also very irritating when people do that. Luckily, there's no one in the marching band that pressures anyone to drink (unless you're asking to be pressured to drink, in which case we do the drinking song, but we never do it to anyone who doesn't want it).shauni wrote:I agree with this 100%, but it also irritates me when I'm not drinking and people are trying to push me to drink and calling me a sour puss or party pooper if I refuse. I really don't think only one night a week is gonna increase your tolerance to that kind of level. Especially if you take a month off for winter break, or several off for summer break, or something. Sure, if you're drinking every day, that could be a thing, but once a week? I know too many people who drink once a week and don't go completely overboard and are completely fine to think that it's gonna do too much harm, especially if you're just having a few drinks like I do. Plus, you get the magic superpower of the ability to socialize better! Yay for a drink or two making me exceedingly less awkward!Silver wrote:The thing I think a lot of people overlook about alcohol is that you build up a tolerance to it after a while. More on the subject of Alcohol:I cannot drink it, because of personal reasons regarding family, and the desire to not become terrible like my father.
On the subject of humor however, I apologize for nobody getting the previous reference. It has been a while, so I forgot not a whole lot of people here watch wrestling, or know who CM Punk is.

Re: Return of the Revenge of the Son of Saying Hi to Josiah!
I never said that a few drinks on the weekends is going to increase your tolerance to dangerous levels, only that it means it'll take you more than a few drinks farther down the line. And that much is a simple fact, one that, as I stated, many people tend to overlook. But drinking alcohol with frequency, and especially in a regular pattern, results in your system getting used to it, meaning you need more to even feel buzzed. That doesn't mean you're going to become alcoholic and develop an addiction and die of liver cancer at 28. Just that in time, it'll take more and more alcohol, which means more and more strain on the liver and brain cells.
Oh, but you're all still young, and you've only just started drinking anyway. It's not like it's a problem after three months, or even three years. Just that it can become a problem if taken too far. You think you're gonna continue drinking every weekend until you're 45? ...Because there are people that do, and they're called alcoholics. Also, Jesus Christ that's gotta cost an arm and a leg.
