man, people Are pranking me today. My office sign was upside down, all the internal blinds were shut and some sod stuck a red sticker on my mouse so it wouldn't work. I wouldn't mind but I've not pulled any pranks worthy of that!

Think I'll just lock the office tonight

Hey.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm now allowed to listen to Christmas music. This makes me very happy.

This isn't much of a break, though. Cornell has me working through and through. Wish I knew what I wanted to get my folks for Christmas so I could take advantage of Black Friday online sales, though.

As for people... I really have minimal faith in people. While I do like some individuals, in general, I dislike people. Which is funny because, if it came down to it, I'd do anything for them.

Weird.
May the Triforce be with you.

Hi! You know, I have nothing against Christmas music but I do wish that they would at least wait until after Thanksgiving to start playing it. There are some radio stations here that have already been playing it for a week. The fact that one of the stations I listen to the most while driving (and the only one that always has decent reception around here) seems to have switched to a 24 hour Christmas format hasn't exactly thrilled me either.

Just burn CDs of music you like and listen to that. I guess I haven't told you guys, but I can drive now. And I blast this album. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BgRYncR1Nog

I just found out that we can't have Father Christmas (Santa Claus) in our shopping center displays any more over Christmas as it offends people. I get the whole nativity thing as that is Christian, but Santa isn't really that religious is it? Cultures that don't even have Christianity have a Santa right? My family isn't religious and we had Santa. Would anyone here be offended by Santa?

I just think removing Santa is one step to far really...

Hi! Despite being very very very very loosely based on a real Catholic Saint, Santa Claus isn't religious in the least. Actually, I think if anyone would be offended by him it'd be a few really religious people, since he tends to steer the focus of the holiday away from the birth of Jesus (which didn't happen on December 25th in the first place, but that's beside the point). But anyway, is that just something the shopping center thought up or is it some new law in the UK? I mean, if people there are taking things that far, it won't be too long before Christmas is canceled entirely.

On the issue of things like that, I personally think that anyone who is offended by a religious display (that doesn't involve murder, torture, graphic sexuality, or anything else that's deemed more or less universally unsuitable for all audiences) is a whiny brat. I don't celebrate Christmas or Halloween, but if people/stores/etc. want to put up displays, have sales, dress up, or whatever, I'm fine with that. I'm living in the US, those things are part of the culture and/or the beliefs of the majority of the country's inhabitants, so what right do I have to complain? Besides, it's not like anyone is forcing me to participate. On that same note, when I lived in Japan, I was constantly running across things related to Buddhism and Shintoism, which I don't believe in at all. And, once again, I was fine with that. So I see a store display for Setsuban or Buddha's birthday or some such. So what? How is that hurting me? Should I be offended because everyone doesn't believe the same things I do? Even more importantly, why should I possibly expect the Japanese people to forgo their own culture/beliefs to accomodate me? I don't even like the whole "Hanaramaquanzmas" thing that some people do here. I don't celebrate Christmas but the vast majority of Americans do, deal with it. Besides, Ramadan is a different time of year entirely and Kwanzaa was created by a black supremist (also a convicted felon) because he thought Christmas was evil and anti-black (not to mention that, according to studies, hardly anyone actually celebrates it anyway).

It's all so stupid. If you don't want to see Buddhist displays, don't live in Japan. If you don't want to see Christmas displays, there are still plenty of countries where it's not widely celebrated. But, on that note, I've got a great idea for a new Christmas movie! We can call it, The Politically Correct Activists Who Ruined Christmas.

My Math AP teacher is really mad she can't say Christmas anymore so she just mocks the school board as much as she can. So we're going full Seinfeld and calling it Festivus, and we even have a pole up in the classroom. Also, the Airing of Grievances, but that's just about everyday for me.

I know right? Company's in England are so scared of offending people, they remove any reference ANYONE my find offensive. It offends ME that we have to remove our holiday references so not to offend! The worst part is, I was watching an episode of the UK dub of Thomas the Tank Engine (with a 2 year old relative) (The US have there own version, even though the language is the SAME. Don't even get me started.) and in it they refer to the pine trees as Christmas Trees, and then at the end the Fat Controller comes out dressed as Father Christmas and goes to his trains "Happy Winder Holidays!" or something like that....for GOD sack the whole thing was referring to Christmas stuff with neo light, but he can't say "Happy Christmas, happy holidays everyone!"

Its not a law, but company's are so scared of offending people its sort of an unofficial law. Yet people here are FAR from PC (politically correct) in private with there thoughts on the matter...

Oh gosh, that's amazing. I would definitally watch that movie.

I celebrate holidays due to tradition and the pleasant atmosphere about them more then anything else. The idea of the holiday season being a time for giving to those less fortunate and being generally nice to each other is fine, though I think we should try to be in that mentality all year around. That certainly would make the world a happier place, now wouldn't it?
Quite honestly, the holiday season is just an excuse for me to bake (and eat) as many cookies, pies, and other baked goods as I can. I also enjoy the free stuff. I mean, who doesn't like free stuff?
And Christmas trees are nice too. They smell awesome.

Speaking of Christmas, I went on a trip with my and one other English class to a nearby theater where we got to see A Christmas Carol. Before this, it had been at least five or six years since I had last seen it. Over the years, the story has been portrayed in many different ways by different people, so this was quite a bit different from what I remember seeing however many years ago. Most of the changes I noticed weren't that bad. In fact, I think I might have enjoyed this a little bit more.
There were a few changes that I didn't like though. For example, the changes made to the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come. Most of the time, they show this ghost as an eerie, sinister, dark, cloak laden phantom with bony hands and it's face hidden in the blackness of it's robe, pointing Scrooge towards what may be his final resting place. This time, instead of bringing the ghost up on stage, like they always have, they used what seemed to be a puppet that was brought down and up through the catwalks above the house, as well as a giant projected eyeball. This made the ghost seem much less scary then it always had seemed to be. Heck, it made Marley's ghost seem much more frightening by comparison.
Still, I do always enjoy seeing a good, classic play. Maybe if more changes are made next year, I'll go and check them out. I don't know whether I'll be able to drag my parents to the theater, but gosh dang it, I'll try.

Nothing else really to say. It's gotten quite cold here in New York. It was snowing a bit after school as well. The snowflakes were really cool looking. Very clear, the crystal structures quite detailed and fine. Amazing what water can do, huh?

Stay radical people. Peace off!
