Morning Daily Prophet - 8/11/2045

Fifty years after the events revolving around Harry James Potter, the hero who saved Hogwarts, rises a new terror. The Second Wizarding War was thought to be the last, and with the Dark Lord defeated, hopes for a new order and peace were born amongst all wizards and witches. They were wrong, however. A terrifying event occurred only forty years after that broke the peace in the magic world, the Halloween Massacre.

The city of Bristol, England, was attacked and completely wiped out on the day of October 31, 2040. Thousands of Muggle men, women, and children were killed in the attack. Interpol and British police released a suspect on BBC a week after, and had been identified as a "witch" captured after the attacks. Other evidence shows the ashes of one building was crisped by dragon fire, as well as random broomsticks scattered around the area. This event is recorded as one of the largest disasters and mass murders in history, surpassing the record of attacks on September 11. Since then, the Muggles and their world leaders have blamed innocent magic users for this. A war is yet to come.

The Ministry of Magic disapproved these actions in 2041. They decided to take action and hunt down this terrorist organization. The new Minister of Magic, Ronald Weasley, fights back the terrorists by sending several wizard militants after them. Many of these efforts resulted in failure, as the terrorists were far too powerful. The leader of the wicked organization had finally been revealed in early 2044. The name had not been released by the Ministry, yet, though conspiracy and rumors claim he is "the son of Voldemort." Most mysterious of all, Harry Potter disappeared. No knowledge on Potter's disappearance was found.

Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Sorcery, Hermione Weasley, also the wife of Minister Weasley, is rumored by conspiracy theorists to have an underground organization of students combatting this terrorist group.. According to popular rumors, ever since the attacks on 2040, an underground wizard group known as the Knight's of Hogwarts (KOH) had been doing undercover missions to hunt down this terrorist group. Weasley stated that the military forces of the Ministry have been withdrawn, and KOH will now take full responsibility of the issue. Consisting of a small group of pupils from Hogwarts, these students have been trained to defend both the Muggle and wizarding world from the countless enemies. Many wizards question how exactly do these alumni fight so much dark magic. However, contrary to this belief, it has not been proven Neither Ron nor Hermione have confirmed this plan of action, though every action by the magical world will decide our fate with the Muggles.

I'm sorry to any Harry Potter fan who will demand for a more canon-based story. I tried to add some things which really shouldn't be added (9/11 attacks) just so we can relate to it better. But I'm saying this now so nobody will point that out later.

Even with their own past experiences, I have trouble believing that Ron and Hermione (or the wizarding world in general) would not only send in a group of students to deal with dark wizards (especially ones who defeated professional hunters) but withdraw the pros in favor of the students. It would make more sense (to me, anyway) for these students to get involved in the entire thing by accident and without official approval (if anything, maybe with secret approval from a couple of people like Dumbledore gave to Harry and friends). There's also that whole thing about underaged wizards not being able to use magic outside of school. If we have a team that's actively out hunting, rather than just investigating things around Hogwarts, that would be problematic. Maybe it would be better if Hermione suspected that this new dark wizard had agents inside Hogwarts and had these special students looking into that?

Oh, and a few things on your character sheet...
1. Since other countries have other magic schools, it seems highly likely that everyone attending Hogwarts would be from somewhere in the United Kingdom, unless their family relocated to England at some point in the past.
2. You only list full-blood and half-blood wizards. There are plenty of examples of wizards and witches who had two muggle parents as well.
3. For Quidditch, people who play should also list their position.
4. "Name of Owl" should probably be replaced with "Pet", since there are plenty of other potential pets that Hogwarts students could have (cats, frogs, rats, puffskeins, etc).

One last thing. To prevent confusion later on, we may want to make a list of who the teachers are for the various subjects at Hogwarts.

Personality: Aderyn is very quiet, though "shy" wouldn't really be the right word, as she does like to be around people. However, she has a slight stutter (English is her third language) and she tends to trip over her words, so she doesn't speak much. Like all Ravenclaw's, she has a love for the pursuit of knowledge, and she can often be seen sitting around with a good book in hand. However, she loves the outdoors, and spends as much time outside as possible, regardless of the season. She learned to ride a broomstick at a young age, and she was a quick learner. Oddly enough, her favourite position in Quidditch is Beater. When she's out on the field, she transforms from her usual quiet, kind and serene self into a ruthless beater. Many have compared her to ice--beautiful at times, yet cold and dangerous at others.
Appearance: Aderyn has pale blonde hair that falls a few inches pat her shoulders. However, she usually has it tied up in a high ponytail. Her features are pale, brining out her striking ice-blue eyes. When not in her school robes, she usually wears jeans, a long-sleeve shirt, a scarf and a vest. She also always wears the sapphire pendant given to her by her mother. She is fairly tall for her age, standing about 5' 7", and she has a very lean build.

Background story: Aderyn was born in a small village in rural Norway. Her mother, a pureblood witch, belongs to one of the most prominent wizarding families in Norway. When she married a muggleborn wizard, her mother was displeased, though other family members didn't mind. They were able to live happily in Norway for some time, until her mother's rage suddenly reappeared and Aderyn and her parents were forced to relocate to Great Britian in order to avoid a great family argument.
Wand composition: 11 and a half inch ash wand with a Valkyrie hair core.

Personality: While not an exceptionally bright student, David makes up for this with his hard-working attitude. A studious type, he prefers to focus more on studying than “wasting time and energy on frivolous activity”, as he aspires to find a high-ranking role in the Ministry someday. His serious, often “all-business” attitude has often made him a rather humorless and unyielding individual. However, he is not above mentoring other, usually younger, students; his patient nature has largely contributed to this.
In addition to his slight accent, which originated from talking primarily in his native tongue with his family before attending Hogwarts, David is unusual for his tendency to speak in a more formal manner, whether it is with the professors or his peers.
He also has a mild case of acrophobia; while he usually can ignore heights, there have been times when he was known to suddenly freeze after realizing how high up he was. This fear was also a major factor in his decision to not try out for the Quidditch team.
Appearance: Roughly 5’8” tall, David has inherited the black hair and brown eyes that are common within his family. His hair, while short in the front, is a bit lengthier in the back, reaching a few centimeters past his shoulders. He wears small, rectangular-rimmed glasses that he genuinely needs.
When not wearing his school robes, he dresses rather modestly. It is not uncommon for him to wear a white button-up shirt and black dress pants as his casual attire. Regardless of what outfit he is in, however, he has a queer habit of wearing a white, silk hat. This habit makes more sense when one realizes that the hat is actually his pet, Cyreno, who has a nasty habit of tugging on David’s hair.

Background story: Though his parents initially were from Taiwan, circumstances and their own personal desire to see a different part of the world had led them to travel to Great Britain, where their son, David was born. Brought up by a squib father and a witch mother, David was aware of his own magical heritage. His fascination with magic has led him to perform some harmless, underage magic frequently on his own time, though it was a practice that was discouraged within the household. The difference in ethnicity with other children in the neighborhood did not seem to bother David much; after all, he grew up with them for most of his life, and his view of them has always been fairly neutral. As the first British-born member of his family, David was also the first in the family to attend Hogwarts. This distinction has set a rather ambitious streak within him, as he decided after a few years as a Hogwarts students that he would aim for an occupation within the Ministry of Magic.

Personality: Due to circumstances discussed below (in backstory), Aves has a kind of Multiple Personality Disorder; his original personality was split into eight parts, each with his own set of memories, abilities, and name. The most often dominant personality retained the name of Aves and is a withdrawn, quiet boy, possessing mediocre magical ability. He is often frightened by what he himself can do (favorite subject is Defense Against the Dark Arts, least favorite is History of Magic). If Aves is physically injured in any way, he switches to Lanius, who is highly belligerent and sadistic, along with highly talented with combative magic (likes anything that teaches spells usable in duels, dislikes everything else). His other six personalities surface much more rarely, and he hasn't yet figured out how they manifest. Zenaida acts--or rather, reacts--with pure instinct, going with whatever he first thinks of doing (no subject preference). Archilochus is a pacifist and extremely shy, preferring supportive or healing spells (likes Herbology and Potions, dislikes Astrology). Melopsittacus is eager to please others and willing to do anything asked of him sort of harming or killing himself, in which case he reverts to a random other personality; any other action is fair game (likes Transfiguration and Charms, dislikes Divination). Corvus is loud and abrasive, fond of making snide comments at other people's expense (doesn't like anything). Sayornis is easily distracted, flighty, and generally cheerful at all times (likes everything). Finally, Nyctea is indifferent to the world around him, caring only for himself (no subject preference). In order from least powerful (both magically and physically) to most, his personalities are: Archilochus, Corvus, Nyctea, Aves, Sayornis, Melopsittacus, Zenaida, and Lanius.
Appearance: Aves has gently wavy red hair of a peculiarly vivid shade, parted on the left and left slightly long. His eyes, however, are a very normal black. He is 5 feet, 10.5 inches tall, but depending on his dominant personality, he may appear shorter due to more withdrawn postures. He has a tendency to wear black long-sleeved shirts under a blue vest and jeans. For some reason, he prefers to wear sandals rather than shoes, though in wet weather he will switch to black rain boots. For each of his seven personalities other than Aves, a small black mark will appear at the pit of his neck, between his collarbones: a down-facing semicircle with a spike through the center for Lanius, a tilted crescent moon for Zenaida, a long narrow diamond for Archilochus, a comma shape for Melopsittacus, a regular triangle for Corvus, an oval pointed at the lower end for Sayornis, and a single chevron pointing downward for Nyctea.

Background story: Aves was never that stable, being the unplanned-for fourth child with a family history of mental illnesses and a tendency toward absentmindedness. When he was 12, his parents made the deadly mistake of going to Bristol for a vacation after the school year began. They were among the victims of the Halloween massacre, driving their youngest son over the edge. The only reason Aves wasn't locked up in St. Mungo's for the rest of his life was because some of his eight personalities exhibited full control of their mental capabilities while others did not. With no precedence on how to treat someone that was completely sane only 5-7 times out of 8 (depending on various wizards' definition of sanity), they allowed him to return to school with an order to the faculty to keep an eye on him. So far, he has managed to avoid causing any trouble with his condition. After the death of his parents, he lives with his purely Muggle siblings, all much older than he is and none of whom actually care for his well-being. Mysteriously, he was Sorted into Slytherin, where most of his peers treat him about as well as his siblings do.

Personality: Mason, or Mace as he prefers to be called, is friendly and takes to take a very energetic gung-ho attitude to just about everything that doesn't involve a large amount of book learning. He does, however, have a tendency to try a bit too hard, get in over his head, and and cause trouble for others as a result. He also fancies himself to be quite the ladies man and is often found flirting with a number of different girls, which very mixed results.
Appearance: Average height, fairly athletic. Light brown hair (which tends to look a bit windswept) and green eyes. When not wearing his wizard robes, he perfers Muggle jeans and t-shirts.
Name of pet: Pyro the Pygmy Puff (A bright reddish orange pygmy puff which has a tendency to accidentally knock over flamable items.)
Background story: Mace has had a happy life and is the oldest of three siblings (he has two younger sisters, both in Ravenclaw). He was always a liakable popular kid but had a tendency to overdue things a bit and get in trouble. Magic was no different and he loved the more practical and active subjects such as charms, transfiguration, and DADA. In his first year at Hogwarts he earned many points for his house with his excellent work in all three subjects...and lost at least that many points for the many accidents he caused when trying to learn spells that were a bit too advanced for him. He tried out for the Gryfindor Quidditch team in his second year and has been a seeker ever since. His playing style is fast and agressive and he's the kind of guy you can count on to make big crazy plays...and blow the small ones by trying to do something fancy where it clearly isn't needed. All in all, he's a fairly popular and well adjusted studen, though he isn't beyond bending or breaking the rules for fun. He also considers himself to be a real lady killer and can be quite the charmer when he's trying to win a particular girl over. His quidditch playing has earned him a rather dedicated female fanbase, though many other girls just consider him to by an annoying flirt. Other hobbies include exploring Hogwarts for secret rooms and passageways and Muggle media. He has some Muggle cousins that he spent a lot of time with growing up, so he has a surprisingly good understanding of Muggle items, lifestyles, and the like.

Whenever he's taking a test in a class or doing homework, he will tend to have his eyes glued onto the work for precise accuracy.
Appearance: Rather tall for his age, about 6' feet. He has dark curly brown hair and is rather skinny, but somewhat athletic. His eyes are light green and he has rather pale skin. He dislikes wearing formal clothing and prefers to wear Muggle clothes.

Background story: Neil's mother moved to the United Kingdom, where Neil was born, followed by his brother, Lance, one year later. His father left the household when he was a baby, therefore he grew up without a father. Neil had discovered his mother was a witch at age 4, where he grew interest in it. Neil expected to attend a Muggle school, but ended up only being homeschooled until age 10. He was sent to Hogwarts at age 10 and was selected a Gryffindor, followed by Lance during his second year, who became a Hufflepuff. Since then, Neil had been a likeable classmate alongside his good friend, Mace Gentry. Neil is also a good friend with most of the teachers, especially Rubeus Hagrid and Professor Artemis. He's always loved the Muggle team sport, cricket, which inspired him to become apart of the popular magical sport, Quidditch. He's been a Chaser since year 1 at Hogwarts, and played alongside his teammate, Mace. However, being told that his father was a Muggle by his mom, Neil has grown up learning to forgive the Muggles despite their pity for the magical world. He hopes to become an Auror one day, in hopes he can bring all dark wizards to justice.

I probably won't be the one starting the roleplay, though. But in case anybody wants to go ahead, here's the following scenario you need to follow:

You're in one of your favorite classes right now at around noontime. Class is dismissed, however, you're called by the teacher of your current class to visit Professor Weasley's office immediately.

((Only issue with the teacher list--I figure Professor Binns would still be teaching History since he's a ghost who's been teaching forever? Also... it kills me a little bit every time I see Hermione referred to as Weasley.... >.< Not a RonxHermione fan, if you couldn't tell.

Absentmindedly twirling her wand, Aderyn had her nose buried in her Ancient Runes book. She vaugely noted Professor Gambridge talking in the background, but she was already several pages ahead of the rest of the class. With her free hand, she took her quill and began writing simple messages in the runes, such as "It's lovely outside" or "Quidditch tomorrow." So engrossed was she in her small writing that she didn't notice that the class was over until Professor Gambridge was standing right in front of her desk.

"Professor Gambridge," she greeted him in her soft voice, "Where has everyone gone?" The jovial man chuckled.

"My dear Miss Byrnson, I dismissed class nearly five minutes ago!" he informed her. Aderyn didn't seem too surprised. Naturally, this wasn't the first time this had happened to her.

"Oh," she said simply, returning her book to her bag and getting to her feet, "I am... very sorry to have bothered you." The slight pause she left between "am" and "very" was slight, but not unnoticible. Silently, Aderyn chastised herself--she hated when she messed up speaking. It made her feel foolish, and she knew very well that she wasn't a fool.

"Hold a moment, Miss Byrnson. I've been asked to deliver a message to you." The girl paused and returned her ice-blue gaze to the professor. Taking this as an acknolwedgement that she was listening, the professor continued, "The Headmistress would like to see you."

Aderyn blinked in surprised. Professor *cringe* Weasley? Why would she want to see her? The request seemed rather strange, but she knew better than to disobey a teacher.

"Now?" she inquired.

"Yes, as soon as you can. I wouldn't keep Professor Weasley waiting if I were you!"

"No, of course not," she muttered, more to herself than to Professor Gambridge. She had planned to go out and fly around a bit today--the weather really was quite nice--but a meeting with the Headmistress certainly took priority. With a slight bow to excuse herself, Aderyn headed off to the Headmistress' room, wondering desperately what this all could be about.

But that's on a totally different subject. And I got confused whether first year students are 10 or 11, so I guess I should change that to 17. Thanks Josiah.)

"Make sure he's tied up, Neil! They get perty feisty when they go loose." Hagrid called to Neil as he was taking the hippogriff to its tree and tying the leash to it. Hagrid immediately tossed him a bucket of mice to feed it, and set it in front of her. Neil looked into its eyes and patted it on the head, smiling as the creature began to happily feast.

"That-a-girl, Mavis. I'll see you again tomorrow." Neil stretched out a little and took a deep breath after a hard hour's work. "Alright Hagrid, my work's done now! Be seeing you tomorrow!" Neil said and waved to him in signal. He had a study hall during this hour. Neil would often leave the castle and offer his friend and teacher, Hagrid, a helping hand with the magical creatures. He took a deep breath and walked past the giant. "I should be heading to my next Herbology now."

"Thanks fer yur help, Neil! Oh yer! Headmistress Weasley wants to see you in her office, make sher you go there right now." Hagrid blurted out. Neil jumped in surprise.

"The Headmistress?" Neil paused, "Wants to see me?" He gasped. Neil had never been invited to Professor Weasley's office before in his seven years at Hogwarts. Despite being popular with all the teachers, he never really got to speak with Professor Weasley face-to-face... This was an honor, he thought!

"Why yes. The occasion? Don't know why. But yer gonna have to go there real soon, lad. Now go off, hehe!" Hagrid chuckled as he went back into his tiny home. Neil shrugged and made his way back to the castle. He had his chin up high, thinking about what the Headmistress was going to say.

As soon as he made his way through the doors, the stairs, the hallways, and finally right in front of the room labeled "Headmistress's Office" he knocked on the door. Awaiting her response, he leaned against the wall, watching all the other students head to their next classes. He muttered to himself, "Why do I have to be here during my favorite class...?"

Personality: Emily was I guess you could say average, she wasn't quiet, however she wasn't loud either, she tended to sit in between the two, sometimes depending on the issue she'd lean towards one more then the other. She loves learning and spends much of her time if not with her friends reading books, fictional or non-fictional. She has a love of animals and plants and all creatures, and most likely would have become a gardener, vet, or possibly a zoo keeper, had she not been a witch. She is always on time and very organized, preferring to get things done now instead of later. She's also fairly athletic and like to keep herself to a certain standard, which only she seems to know.
Appearance: Emily stands at 5”5' with long curly red hair and blue-green eyes, she has a few freckles across her nose and cheeks. She's fairly skinny, albeit with a bit of muscle with an hourglass figure and pale skin. She's often seen wearing soft blue and green cloths as a majority (although she does have cloths of other colours) when not in her Hogwarts uniform and he hair styles constantly change on how she's feeling. She's always seen wearing a silver Celtic-styled pendant with an amber set in it which was given to her by her mother when she started at Hogwarts.
Name of pet: Cat, Male, Black with white socks and on his chin. Named Mr. Mistoffelees.
Background story: Emily was born in and grew up in Scotland, Although she visited Australia many times while growing up as her fathers family lived there. Her fathers love of sport rubbed of on her and her two older brothers and they played many games, cricket being prominent, playing with her father and brothers so often turned her into a good batter which is what made her try out for and become a beater for her houses team. She love school and often spent time with her mother during the holidays at her work, her mother was a Vetenarian, learning what she could from her. When she received her letter from Hogwarts her parents were as excited as she was, and also stated many times that it explained why strange things seemed to happen around her. As a girl they decided to buy her a pet, originally she was going to get an owl, although once in the store she bonded with a black kitten whom she name Mr. Mistoffelees after the character in the Cats musical.

((After my last PL post, I find the lack of color in this post a bit odd.))

"Class is dismissed."
Those three, simple words had invoke a major change in the mood of the students. Just a few seconds prior, the entire class had an air of dissatisfaction. All of a sudden, the students were out of their seats in a flurry, suddenly rejuvenated as they quickly packed their books and quills into the bags. A loud chatter filled the previously silent room as the students filed out the door, some of them muttering complaints about the pile of homework.

Sitting near the back of the room, the dark-haired teen was the last to leave. He set his quill down with an irritable sigh; true, he had not expected to finish his homework in class- not when there was so much to do- but he hadn’t been able to hit his goal, either. That meant more work to do in his spare time, which he could be using for studying other subjects, such as History of Magic. He really needed to focus his time and energy on that one if he was going to keep his grades up.

Another sigh, this one more despondent than the last, escaped as he stood, carefully packing his belongings away. Well, he would have to cope the best he could, he supposed. With the majority of his items safely in his bag, he subconsciously reached for the white silk hat he had left on the table, setting it neatly on top of his head as he began to follow the others.

"Mister Huang." At the authoritative tone in the professor's voice, David stopped short. After a split second of consideration, he turned fully around.

"Yes, Professor?" His voice was at a medium volume- loud enough to be heard from that distance, but not so much that it would be considered disrespectful. Professor Swansea wasn’t even looking his way as she scribbled something down on her parchment.
“The Headmistress requires your presence,” came the curt reply. The brown eyes slowly blinked behind the glasses.

“Immediately?”
“Yes, promptly.” The news made David bite back another sigh. What could the Headmistress possibly want with him? He was sure that he stayed within the boundaries of rules, and he doubt he had done anything to deserve a medal of sorts. It was tempting to ask Professor Swansea; after all, despite her strictness, she was still his favorite professor. The only thing holding him back was how busy she seemed to be at the moment. David knew firsthand just how aggravating too many interruptions are when one was hard at work.

“Thank you, Professor,” the sixth year responded at last, inkling his head slightly in a bow. A simple “hmm” and a wave of the hand was Professor Swansea’s only sign of acknowledgement. Straightening his silk hat, David exited the room, taking a path different from his usual one. If the Headmistress had summoned him, then he must be, as the Arithmancy professor put it, “prompt”.

Minutes later, he found himself in front of the entrance to the Headmistress’ tower. Once more, the brown eyes blinked slowly as they spotted a figure already waiting to enter. Evidently, David wasn’t the only one who was called to the tower. Not caring how odd his silk hat might look on him, the adolescent approached the waiting student.

“Hello, Mister Lyons,” he greeted, stopping a respectful distance away from the other male. While he didn’t know Neil Lyons personally, he recognized the older student from the few Quidditch matches David had watched. “May I ask if you were also summoned by the Headmistress?”
