Ask if he has any red Gyarados.
"Irregardless" and "Over exaggerated" are NEVER CORRECT EVER because they are redundant
Regardless means "without regard", and adding "ir" on the front actually makes it a double negative; exaggerate means "to overstate" so you're literally saying "over overstate."
Example: I can not exaggerate the importance of this fact enough, regardless of how often people ignore it.

> BUYONEBUYONEBUYONE!

At last! After...what has it been? Two hours? Well, anyway, at semi-long last you've finally found the golden magikarp salesman! You are so ecstatic you can barely contain yourself.

You tell the golden magikarp salesman that you've been looking for him and want to buy a magikarp. He appears very happy to hear this.

But then you get to thinking.

If this guy has golden magikarp, then surely...

> Ask if he has any red Gyarados.

Image

You ask if he has any red Gyrados in stock. He tells you that no, unfortunately, he does not carry red Gyrados. Large groups of them are very expensive to take care of, you see. Plus, there is much more profit in golden magikarp. Upon your inquiry as to why, he informs you that these golden magikarp lay golden eggs! Golden eggs! Wow, imagine all the money you could make with a magikarp that could lay golden eggs. Sure, you probably would never evolve it so it wouldn't be worth much in battle, but think of all the pokedollars! What it lacked in fighting value it would make up for in monetary value!

> Buy six!

You know what? Why not buy a whole party worth of golden magikarp? Imagine how awesome you'd look surrounded by a bunch of flopping golden fish...okay, that didn't make it sound too awesome. But nonetheless, you're still up for the idea.

When you inquire as to the price of these pokemon, the golden magikarp salesman asks you how much money you have. Pokemon such as these don't come cheap, you know.
You tell him you have exactly 5100 pokedollars.
The man looks disgruntled. You know, 5100 pokedollars won't even get you a Carbos in this day and age, let alone a golden egg laying magikarp.

Then, he looks shiftily from side to side, and in a low voice continues on to say that he hasn't had much business lately, and that he thinks you look like a responsible kid. Tell you what, just this once, he's gonna drop the price to an incredibly low 5100 pokedollars! What a steal!

Okay, you're basically sold now, and ready to fork over the money. But then a thought stops you. Something tells you that you shouldn't be putting your complete trust in this stranger. Surely there's something fishy going on here (pun intended).

> Have him show you one to prove he's telling the truth.

Image

You ask the golden magikarp salesman if you could see one of the magikarp. He happily agrees.

Image

For some reason, when you look into the tank you find no magikarp. You question the salesman, and he answers that he couldn't simply have the magikarp swimming in the tank out in the open. Someone might try to run off with it! He takes a pokeball out from under the table. It appears to be made of solid gold and gleams in the sunlight.

Image

There it is! A golden magikarp! This is absolutely amazing! This has got to be the greatest day of your...

Image

Wait.

Somethings not right here. Did one of the magikarp's scales just flake off? Or was it not a scale at all. Amidst cries of the magikarp salesman concerning salmonella and other health hazards, you stick your hand in the tank and swipe it across the magikarp's slimy body.

Image

Yep, it's fake.

Buy one anyway, since it'll evolve into an ultra-hyper-monster-death beast of death.

Haggle! Threaten to take you business to another golden Magikarp salesman if he doesn't lower the price!

Threaten to report him to the captain and the police if he doesn't give you one for free.

Well, even though they're not golden, they're still pokemon. And even though right now they're flopping weaklings, they'll eventually turn into monsters hell bent on killing all who originally opposed them...cool.

So, you might as well buy one. Now that the jig is up hopefully the so-called-golden magikarp salesman will be willing to lower his price a little.

Yep. He's lowering the price. Now one of these fine golden magikarp can be yours for only 500 pokedollars.

Image

You still think the guy is trying to rip you off.

> Haggle! Threaten to take you business to another golden Magikarp salesman if he doesn't lower the price!

Hey, it's a free market. Who says you have to pay full price? You decide to barter with the salesman. After all, if you don't like his prices you can always take your business elsewhere. Shoot, you could even catch one yourself! With this reasoning in hand, you proceed to haggle.

Image

Okay this is going nowhere.

> Threaten to report him to the captain and the police if he doesn't give you one for free.

Well now this guy is starting to become a pain. Maybe it's time to put to work your influence on this here cruise ship.

You proceed to tell the man that your father works on this ship, and that you have a good relationship with the captain. You tell him you could have him and his crate full of golden fakes kicked off at the next stop with no chance of a refund. However, you are willing to look the other way...for a price.

And by price you mean a free magikarp.

Image

Oh, looks like the guy knows you're just one of the sailor's kids. He also knows that you stole that hat off of some little kid.

It appears you have reached a stalemate.

Well, looks like there's only one thing left to do. Cough up the 500 pokedollars and get yourself a magikarp.

> Take the golden Pokeball. That has to be real, right?

Image

...Or you could swipe the golden Pokeball and make a run for it. That works too.
