The Bible Game
Post one of your Bible Verses right here. :) This applies to those not Christian, too, because either way, the Bible and other holy books of religion teach us many valuable things in our lives.
Ephesians 6:11 "Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil."
Edit: You may also post a favorite Torah, Koran, Mormon, or any other verse from any holy book onto this thread.

Re: The Bible Game
Don't know how much of a "game" this is, but I'll let it go... assuming that you would be accepting of passages from other religious works as well. If I want to post something from the book of Mormon, gosh darn it, I'm gonna post something from the book of Mormon. Might be good for a laugh, like this one here...
Zechariah 6:7
When the powerful horses went out, they were straining to go throughout the earth. And he said, "Go throughout the earth!" So they went throughout the earth.

"Irregardless" and "Over exaggerated" are NEVER CORRECT EVER because they are redundant
Regardless means "without regard", and adding "ir" on the front actually makes it a double negative; exaggerate means "to overstate" so you're literally saying "over overstate."
Example: I can not exaggerate the importance of this fact enough, regardless of how often people ignore it.

I'll accept the Koran, the Torah, the Book of Mormon, just about anything, Silver. Luckily, I'm not as close-minded as some may think, so go on right ahead and post your beliefs, too.

Re: The Bible Game
And here comes my favorite Bible contradiction EVER!
Acts 1: 18-19
With the reward he got for his wickedness, Judas bought a field; there he fell headlong, his body burst open and all his intestines spilled out. Everyone in Jerusalem heard about this, so they called that field in their language Akeldama, that is, Field of Blood.
Matthew 27: 5
So Judas threw the money into the temple and left. Then he went away and hanged himself.
...lolwut?
(Personally, I think they should teach the Acts version)

Psalm 23: My favorite out of all the Psalms. King James is better
1 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
3 he restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness
for his name's sake.
4 Even though I walk
through the valley of the shadow of death, [a]
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD
forever.

Without a doubt one of the greatest Bible verses out there:
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16

Re: The Bible Game
Once again, welcome to Bible contradiction time!!
Though not as exciting as Judas' two different deaths, today we look at the Jesus' empty tomb!
Matthew 28: 1-4
The Sabbath day was now over. It was dawn on the first day of the week. Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. There was a powerful earthquake. An angel of the Lord came down from heaven. The angel went to the tomb. He rolled back the stone and sat on it. His body shone like lightning. His clothes were as white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.
Luke 24: 1-2
It was very early in the morning on the first day of the week. The women took the spices they had prepared. Then they went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from it.
...personally, I like the ones where the guards have a seizure, but that's just me. Lots more exciting than the tomb already being open...
Oh, and the other Gospels each have their own version... the biggest difference being in Matthew with the guard seizure thing.

Personally, I find this verse to be scary, but I completely understand what this reading from the Gospel means.
John 3:36 "He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him."

Re: The Bible Game
The Bible story that I STILL don't understand:
Luke 16: 1-8
"Jesus told his disciples another story. He said, "There was a rich man who had a manager. Some said that the manager was wasting what the rich man owned. So the rich man told him to come in. He asked him, 'What is this I hear about you? Tell me exactly how you have handled what I own. You can't be my manager any longer.'
"The manager said to himself, 'What will I do now? My master is taking away my job. I'm not strong enough to dig. And I'm too ashamed to beg. I know what I'm going to do. I'll do something so that when I lose my job here, people will welcome me into their houses.'
"So he called in each person who owed his master something. He asked the first one, 'How much do you owe my master?'
" 'I owe 800 gallons of olive oil,' he replied.
"The manager told him, 'Take your bill. Sit down quickly and change it to 400 gallons.'
"Then he asked the second one, 'And how much do you owe?'
" 'I owe 1,000 bushels of wheat,' he replied.
"The manager told him, 'Take your bill and change it to 800 bushels.'
"The manager had not been honest. But the master praised him for being clever. The people of this world are clever in dealing with those who are like themselves. They are more clever than God's people."
So... cheat people... of their money... are to be praised?

Re: The Bible Game
From what I think, I think it's trying to say it isn't a good idea to owe many debts and you must pay them off as soon as possible. Either that or the manager is an ideal "tax collector."
Luke 15:11-12: "Jesus continued: "There was a man who had two sons. The younger one said to his father, 'Father, give me my share of the estate.' So he divided his property between them."

Re: The Bible Game
Now, this one we talked about at youth group... we all burst out laughing, couldn't help it.
Acts 5: 1-6
"A man named Ananias and his wife, Sapphira, also sold some land.He kept part of the money for himself. Sapphira knew he had kept it. He brought the rest of it and put it down at the apostles' feet.
Then Peter said, "Ananias, why did you let Satan fill your heart? He made you lie to the Holy Spirit. You have kept some of the money you received for the land. Didn't the land belong to you before it was sold? After it was sold, you could have used the money as you wished. What made you think of doing such a thing? You haven't lied to just anyone. You've lied to God."
When Ananias heard this, he fell down and died. All who heard what had happened were filled with fear. Some young men came and wrapped up his body. They carried him out and buried him."
So... the guy sold his house to give the money to the apostles, but wanted to keep some for himself for his house that he sold and therefore he deserves all the money for... so he died as punishment for wanting to keep some money.
It then continues with
(7-11)
About three hours later, the wife of Ananias came in. She didn't know what had happened. Peter asked her, "Tell me. Is this the price you and Ananias sold the land for?"
"Yes," she said. "That's the price."
Peter asked her, "How could you agree to test the Spirit of the Lord? Listen! You can hear the steps of the men who buried your husband. They are at the door. They will carry you out also."
At that very moment she fell down at his feet and died. Then the young men came in. They saw that Sapphira was dead. So they carried her out and buried her beside her husband. The whole church and all who heard about these things were filled with fear. "
"You can hear the steps of the men who buired your husband. They are at the door. They will carry you out also" WAY TO BE A CREEPER, PETER. WAY. TO. BE
Once again: Oh what a silly book you are, the Bible...
Care to interpret better?

Re: The Bible Game
Hmm... Saber, your verse reminds me of something from Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream."
Prodigal son, continued!
Luke 15:13-16 "Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living. After he had spent everything, there was a severe famine in that whole country, and he began to be in need. So he went and hired himself out to a citizen of that country, who sent him to his fields to feed pigs. He longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything."

Job 13:5
If only you would be altogether silent! For you, that would be wisdom.
Freaking Prodigal Son. I've always been able to relate to that one... no, not that I've left my house and done crazy things. I know what it is to be the good son. The one that's honest, loyal, hard-working... and ignored. Oh, sure, the inheritance, great. That's basically the father saying, "I'll appreciate you when I'm DEAD." Why is it always like that? You're appreciated more if you make a mistake and then apologize. But if you don't betray people every once in a while, they just take you for granted...

Re: The Bible Game
As a note, the Torah is part of the Bible (the first five books to be exact). Jewish people have all the other Old Testament books too, for that matter.
As for the contradictions between the various gospels, you gotta remember that they were all written decades after Jesus's departure. After that much time, everyone's memory is going to be a little fuzzy.
Here's a verse I like that I think is overlooked far too often. Matt 5:18 For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled.
