Hey.
So, basically today sucked and I'm feeling very cynical. That's about it. Ta.

Animes I just got into: .hack, Soul Eater, Toradora.
Animes I can easily find working episodes too: Soul Eater.
Gah! Still, I've been bored lately.

Hey!
In case none of you know, I'm not a Tokusatsu fan anymore. Neither am I an anime fan, or that being said, I despise anything otaku. But I will tell you though that my friend, today, just showed me a few clips of G Gundam. I'll give it a try, since I've already seen about 4 episodes of it when I was little.
Other than that, I was able to get a pretty good day at school. Will hopefully party with friends tomorrow. Peace out!

Guess that depends on your definition of "otaku." I myself probably qualify as an otaku in some definitions of the word, but I've run into some others that just drive me insane. Additionally, it doesn't always refer only to being into the whole manga/anime thing. You probably count as an otaku too (for metal music).Metalheadz wrote: In case none of you know, I'm not a Tokusatsu fan anymore. Konnichiwa. My dad just showed me a book called "Understanding Comics" by Scott McCloud, which is more or less a comic book explaining comics. The author/artist has a pretty good sense of humor.

Should I...oh whatever. /o/

Meh. If you ask me, Mandi, I'm far from an otaku. I used to be, don't get me wrong. It seems like the anime fanbase overall (not including my anime fan friends or any of the forum members) has let me down in many certain ways, always in the past. I strongly dislike anime with a passion. Manga, I have some respect for since it dates way back to Japanese history and such. I guess you can say I've met plenty of weaboos in my life at school at such who basically killed the anime spirit in me.
I still appreciate a few anime, such as Naruto and Yugioh (stuff I grew up with.) But like Colly said, I'll give G Gundam a try since I apparantly grew up with it.
Btw, there's a difference between heavy metal and J-metal. J-metal is only a subgenre of heavy metal, which I think is ok.

Hi! I have voted, I have voted, and I'm not even 18...
Seriously, though, we did vote. Freshman position in our high school's SGA. Voted for the vice president of our middle school SGA. Very interesting. I feel sorry for the people I didn't vote for, though...
On the other hand, it's finally the weekend, and I have brilliantly gotten past all the quizes that I had today. Piles of homework today and tomorrow, though... And not all of them are my school's. My dad teaches us Chinese (and his methods can be... brutal.), and it's wicked. WICKED!!!
Bye.

Hi! G Gundam is fun, though I definately wouldn't call it one of the best Gundam series.
Anyway Metal, when Mandi said you could be a metal Otaku she didn't mean because you like Japanese metal music. See, in Japan otaku is used to refer to anyone with a very strong (perhaps obsessive) interest in something. For example there's train otaku, fashion otaku, food otaku, and the like. It's only in the US that otaku is used as a catch-all for anime and manga fans. Heck, even in Japan they differentiate between anime, manga, and game otaku.

Yep. What Josiah said. Although might I add, I think there's a bit of a negative connotation to the word. Like, you like this so much to the point where it's unhealthy. Which suits me just fine.
Konnichiwa. While we're on the topic of music, I can't usually tell one genre from another. I got the obvious ones down, like classical and pop, but I can't quite tell the difference between, say, rock and metal. As long as it sounds good, I like it. I don't pay attention to stuff like genre.
As for fanbases letting you down...I've got some issues with the StH fanbase. They complain too much, in my opinion, about the characters, about the plots, about the game styles, just about everything. It gets me frustrated that they can't just sit back and enjoy what Sega's trying to make for them. For similar reasons, I don't partake in any of those console wars, or ninjas vs pirates, or Naruto vs Bleach vs One Piece, or any of that stuff. I don't see the point of going to, for example, a YouTube video on One Piece and saying "one piece suks Naruto for the win!" If you don't like it, don't watch it. Sheesh.
I'm not against stating your opinion, however. I just dislike how entire flame wars start over stuff like "I prefer watching Bleach than Naruto" or something, often with name-calling and bad language included.
And if you want to be called a Starcraft otaku, you can go ahead and call yourself one, I suppose. ._.

I wonder if anyone will notice if I change this... *shifty e
Hey.
So, got back from reffing two hockey games.... I wore a t-shirt under my ref sweater, and I forgot this was one of the colder rinks, so now my arms are freezing >.<
Marching band yesterday was INSANE. It was freaking POURING and we STILL went to the game! Legit... POURING. And we even marched the show... in the pouring rain... We didn't even bother taking off our jackets to march the show because it was POURING SO MUCH. The rain soaked down the hole in my jacket, through my uniform and down to my shirt. There was a giant wet spot on my shirt afterwards. Awesome. At least we marched well.
Kind of competition tomorrow. We don't get scored, judges just talk to us and are like "this is wut you need to do better on" Ugh... percussion sucks, it's so frusturating >.< All but one of them are newbs... we were practicing yesterday and we had to restart a few times JUST because they were like a beat ahead each time... they refuse to watch the drum major...

Hi! I passed my karate test! I still have my upcoming trip to GDC Austin before things clam down though.
In other news, I upset my co-author on the textbook by suggesting that the cover should say "Josiah Lebowitz With Contributions by <his name>". To be nice, I apologized and withdrew my request but seriously, he is a contributer on it, not a full author. The book was my idea and uses my outline. I wrote 90% of it and his additions are structured as commentary on the stuff I wrote. Plus I'm the one who spent months getting the book approved in the first place and I'm the one who had to get all the image permissions and needs to create all the Power Points and the web site that goes with the book. He was brought in towards the end of the approval process just because a few too many proposal reviews were worried about my lack of "industry experience". His additions have been good, he's been easy to work with, and he seems like a nice guy (which is why I apologized and withdrew my suggestion) but if out positions were reversed I'd expect to be listed as a contributer, not a full co-author, and I wouldn't have a problem with it. So the whole thing just annoys me a little.

Re: Return of the Revenge of the Son of Saying Hi to Josiah!
'Lo, peeps. I went electronics shopping today. I bought two albums (Year Zero by Nine Inch Nails and Plastic Beach by Gorillaz) and placed my pre-order for Fallout: New Vegas, which is pretty much the only game I really want coming out this fall. Now I just have to wait two-and-a-half weeks for it to come out...
