((Well, I am the admin. Plus, as this is a word of the day thread, I kinda need to post every day whether anyone else has posted or not.))

desu: A verb literally meaning "it is so", it's a sentence ending often used if the sentence isn't ended with a different verb. Desu is the formal non-past tense.
