You see, those videos now won me instantly. THAT's how a Pokemon DS game should've looked like in the first place. I see plenty of other DS games that take full advantage of camera tricks with sprites, yet I never got why Pokemon didn't play with it so much.

Re: 5th Genereation confirmed?
I know!! I love the stuff their adding this time!!! The only down side is that the ROM's will run slowly on computers... oh wait! I don't need to use my computer anymore to emulate DS roms... XD Sorry hehe R4i.. but that still doesn't help with random freezes and blackouts...

Re: 5th Genereation confirmed?
Ugh... it's bad enough that you openly discuss emulation and complain about it, but you openly discuss an R4 clone and complain about it. Be glad you have some sort of way to play things for free, don't complain about the problems. There's a work around for the R4, but only if you have the original version. But nonetheless, buy the original copy. Import it if you really want to play it so badly.

Re: 5th Genereation confirmed?
I do use an R4i, but only on games that I have either bought or plan on buying in the near future. I mainly use my R4i for travel; I don't like to carry 30 games with my and change them out all the time (lost so many because of that...) when I can just use one game and have all of my games on it.
I don't use illegal roms nor do I support it >> I cannot import it because I don't get mail where I live (believe it or not >>) and even if I did, last I checked, most games are region locked. So what's your problem with emulation and R4i if you own the game? I'm not trying to be rude, I'm just asking.

DS Games. Region locked.
Do the research. DSi games can be, but DS games are region-free. Same goes for GBA and PSP.

"Irregardless" and "Over exaggerated" are NEVER CORRECT EVER because they are redundant
Regardless means "without regard", and adding "ir" on the front actually makes it a double negative; exaggerate means "to overstate" so you're literally saying "over overstate."
Example: I can not exaggerate the importance of this fact enough, regardless of how often people ignore it.

Re: 5th Genereation confirmed?
Silver is mostly right. The entire Gameboy series is region free as are all DS games. DSi exclusive games can be region locked, but there's hardly any DSi exclusive games out there since so many people still use DS and DS Lites. PSP games can be region locked, and there's a random handful that are, but most aren't.
And, as long as I'm on the subject... All old (previous gen) non-portable game consoles are region locked in some way or another (though for some, the extent of the lock is that cartridges are a different shape so they just don't fit). The Wii is region locked. PS3 and 360 games can be region locked but, from what I know, only a few random titles actually are. Keep in mind though that while the PS3 can play Japanese PS3 games it's still region locked for PS and PS2 game discs (though you can buy Japanese PS games off the Japan Playstation store, presuming you have a Japanese credit cart or point card to pay for them with).

Re: 5th Genereation confirmed?
The only legal ROMs are homebrew ones, no back-up ROMs are legal.NintendoGamer wrote:I don't use illegal roms nor do I support it >> I cannot import it because I don't get mail where I live (believe it or not >>) and even if I did, last I checked, most games are region locked. Stop thinking that just because you own a game, it makes it legal to own the ROM. That's a rumor started by someone who just wanted to make himself feel morally right. Same goes for that "24 hour rule". Just another rumor.
Nintendo (and other companies for that matter) clearly print that backing-up and modifying their games are illegal. Therefore, any commercial games up for download that are not distributed by the original developers are illegal.
As for region locked games this generation:
DS: Most games developed for the DS series are region free. However, DSi enhanced or exclusive games are locked. For example, if a JP DS game was DSi enhanced, it'd work on a US DS/Lite but not a US DSi. DLC is region locked.
PSP: This one is mainly region free. Only Battlezone and UMD movies are region locked. DLC is not region-locked if you register a foreign PSN account.
Wii: Region locked completely, down to the DLC.
360 (My biggest region-locking nemesis): Most JP developers love to region lock their games to Japan-only. When released in the US, it'll work on a JP and US 360 (or sometimes US only). When released in EU, it normally runs on all three. 360 games developed in the US don't normally get region-locks. DLC is not region-locked as you can easily register a foreign Xbox Live account.
PS3: All PS3 games are region-locked. However, PS2/PS1 games still have their locks. Obviously, Blu-ray movies are region locked. As for the DLC, it works the same as the PSP.

Re: 5th Genereation confirmed?
I have hear it stated many times that, yes, if you download a ROM it is illegal, but, I have read from many places that if YOU rip your own rom's and don't share them with anyone, that it is not illegal; So what do you think about that? Do you want me to rip my own and go to the trouble of buying one just to make it that much more legal?
Also, like I stated in my other post, I can't import games because I do not get mail where I live, and even if I could, I do not have the fortune to do that!
I would like to end this discussion so it doesn't get worse; I will agree that, yes, downloading Rom's is illegal and should be stopped or at least made somehow more legal (by possibly requiring special PoP or something), but I will also say, if I own the game (and do not sell or loan it away) that I should be able to use the rom and pack the original safely away.
If you want to keep discussing this topic, please PM me.

Re: 5th Genereation confirmed?
Having actually taken a class on copyright law in college (and man, was it boring), here's my understanding of the ROM issue.
1. Law clearly states that you're allowed to make an unlimited number of backup copies of any media that you legally own (this includes books, movies, movies, games, etc).
2. Getting copies of stuff when you don't own the original is, however, illegal.
3. There's a bit gray area when it comes to things that haven't been liscensed for release in your country (which is the justification for things like anime fan-subs). But it's still better to buy or import a copy so you can support the people who made it.
4. In regard to ROMs, the 24 hour rule is completely false. There never was any sort of legal justification for that, someone just made it up.
5. Technically, while you're allowed to make copies of your own media, you can't get copies from someone else, even if you do own the original. So it'd be ok to rip a ROM of your game cartridge, but not to download a copy of the ROM from the internet, even though own the original. That said, that's a rather stupid technicality and not one that can really be defended so I don't see a problem with downloading ROMs so long as you OWN A LEGIT COPY OF THE ORIGINAL.
6. As a side note, DRM actually isn't entirely legal as it tries to prevent your right to make copies of your own legally purchased prodcuts.

I would never be able to sit through that
;
Listing in order of what I knew and stuff (just stating, not being rude or anything.)
1. I kinda knew about that, but not 100% sure; Glad I know now though.
2. I knew that >>'
3. I... Hardly even use stuff like that, so... I didn't know that...
4. Even I knew that, I could have even guessed that...
5. I agree totally with that; That said, I don't even know how anyone could prove that it's your ripped ROM or a downloaded one.
6. DMR is lame >> and illegal...

I figure that, if any game, movie, book, etc interests me enough that I'm willing to put in a whole bunch of hours playing/watching/reading it, it's only fair that I pay for it and give something back to the creators. After all, if they don't make a living making these things, then there won't be any more of them.

Re: 5th Genereation confirmed?
Anyways, to get back on topic, I heard that the new region is going to be Isshu, also, the trainers are gonna be 'older than ever' as stated in a CoroCoro scan I saw somewhere >> <<...

Re: 5th Genereation confirmed?
"Older than ever?" You talking about the player characters or the random trainers. Cause some of those random trainers already look to be in the eighties...
