King of the Forums 2010: Bonus Challenge #2
King of the Forums 2010: Bonus Challenge #2
Pebble Version has close to 1000 strips bonus over 250 Blooper Reel comics, so let's see just how much you guys remember about them. It's quiz time! To enter, PM your answers to me no later than Wednesday (the 17th). DO NOT POST THEM IN THIS THREAD. The first three people to get all the answers right win! If three people don't get all the answers right, then points will be award based first on number of correct answers and then on how soon the answers were submitted.
First Prize: 30 points
Second Prize: 20 points
Third Prize: 10 points.
All Answers Correct (but too slow to be in the top three): 5 points
Here's the quiz. Note that not all the answers can be found in the comic itself...
1. Name Brendan and May's parents.
2. How many strips has the grass kid appeared in?
3. In what strip did the guy in the dark room first appear?
4. What are Brendan, May, Xain, and Cali's ages?
5. Where is Brendan originally from?
6. Which TMs and HMs have Brendan and May gotten but not yet used?
7. How many different types of pokémon have Brendan and May combined caught? (Their starters and evolutions count, just like in the pokédex.)
8. Which PV forum member (other than me) has appeared in the largest number of Blooper Reel comics and how many comics has he/she been in?
9. How many Blooper Reel comics have I (Josiah) been seen and/or heard in?
10. When did the original Pebble Version forums open?
Bonus Question: What are the identities of: Champion, Challenger, Loser, Dragon, and the guy in the dark room?
Note: You won't find the answer to the bonus question anywhere in the comic, site, or forums. Just give me your best guess. I won't tell you if you're right or not, but if you get some of them right, I'll secretly give you a few bonus points, whether you won the challenge itself or not.

Re: King of the Forums 2010: Bonus Challenge #2
For number 7, is that how many they've actually caught, physically, with Pokeballs, or are you looking for a Pokedex kinda number, where evolutions count, too?
"Irregardless" and "Over exaggerated" are NEVER CORRECT EVER because they are redundant
Regardless means "without regard", and adding "ir" on the front actually makes it a double negative; exaggerate means "to overstate" so you're literally saying "over overstate."
Example: I can not exaggerate the importance of this fact enough, regardless of how often people ignore it.

Pokedex style number. So that includes pokémon they've caught, evolved, and been given. So starters and evolutions should be counted.
I should probably also mention that number 8 referes to any forum member except me. I'll go ahead and edit my previous post to clarify those two points.

*grumbles angrily* Great, time for more counting for the pokemanz, I already counted it the wrong way... sigh.Josiah wrote:Pokedex style number. So that includes pokémon they've caught, evolved, and been given. So starters and evolutions should be counted.

And... darn, I thought I had you on that one.
May the Triforce be with you.

Sorry about that. I was kinda tired when I posted that (it was late at night after several long days) and didn't realize that question was a little vague as worded.
Remember everyone, you've got to PM me your answers no later than midnight tomorrow.

And the winner is...Saber Knight!
Actually, she was the only one who entered. Which is kinda disapointing, to be honest. She did get almost all the questions right though. Anyway, she gets 30 points! She might or might not have also gotten some more points for her guess on the bonus question. As for everyone else... You all missed out on some easy points. Heck, if one more person had entered he/she would have gotten 20 points regardless of how many questions were correct.

I thought I had until today, and was going to submit it... then I looked at the thread again, and it said by the 17th ;_;

Since no one else entered and you had posted here earlier and asked me a question about the challenge...I'll be nice and let you submit your answers today.
And, to be fair, I'll let anyone else who wants to submit answers today as well. Saber already won first prize, but second and third are still up for grabs.

Re: King of the Forums 2010: Bonus Challenge #2
I'll post them in this thread (except for the bonus question, of course) in a day or two.
Re: King of the Forums 2010: Bonus Challenge #2
Silver gets 20 points for second place! And with that, this challenge is now completely closed. Answers to the quiz will be posted later tonight.
Re: King of the Forums 2010: Bonus Challenge #2
Oops, just realized that I forgot to post the answers (thought I did, but I guess I forgot). I'll get to that either later tonight or tomorrow.
Re: King of the Forums 2010: Bonus Challenge #2
1. Name Brendan and May's parents.
May: Professor Birch and Lauren (her name is listed in her cast page entry though it never appears in the comic). Brendan: Norman and Brendan's mom (her name has yet to appear and when asked in the Ask the Cast thread she was distracted by a video game when she was about to answer, unless she was series and her name really is “YES! I FINALLY BEAT THE BOSS! TAKE THAT YOU STUPID GIANT TURTLE!”)
2. How many strips has the grass kid appeared in?
10 regular comics and 3 bonus comics.
3. In what strip did the guy in the dark room first appear?
300
4. What are Brendan, May, Xain, and Cali's ages?
Brendan - 16
May - 15
Xain - 16
Cali - 16
(They can be found in the Ask the Cast thread.)
5. Where is Brendan originally from?
Johto
6. Which TMs and HMs have Brendan and May gotten but not yet used?
This is a tough one. Steel Wing, Shock Wave, Torment, and Secret Power (which they just got shortly before this challenge was posted).
7. How many different types of pokémon have Brendan and May combined caught? (Their starters and evolutions count, just like in the pokédex.)
The pokédex on the cast page is a good place to start, but it's missing Mew (which doesn't have an entry yet) and a few of the newer captures. The total number on the date this challenge was posted was 53 though since then they've caught 2 more.
8. Which PV forum member (other than me) has appeared in the largest number of Blooper Reel comics and how many comics has he/she been in?
Silver has appeared in 7 strips and can be heard in one other one.
9. How many Blooper Reel comics have I (Josiah) been seen and/or heard in?
You can see me in 35 strips and hear my voice in an additional 22. There's also one more when you can hear a voice that's probably mine but it was back before the days of colored text, so you can't be sure.
10. When did the original Pebble Version forums open?
The forums that eventually morphed into the current forums (after a program change and a couple of upgrades) officially launched on July 2, 2004. But they were actually a replacement for the original forums, which opened on February 6, 2004.
