What's worst? 4Kids or Disney?

I absolutely hate all of Disney Channel's shows, especially Zack and Cody which insults Asians (like myself) too much. They have horrible acting and the comedy is just plain lame... (for me that is) Thus, Disney is appealing too much to older teens rather than little kids like they used to, I miss the old Disney when they had all the wonderful classic movies... :(

4Kids, their dubbed anime is TERRIBLE... They screw just about everything Japanese they touch and turn it into a big mess... One Piece and Yu-Gi-Oh? Poor thing...

You probably wouldn't understand if you're not Asian.

But Brenda Song (an actress from that show) was the idiotic girl of the show, and she is Asian. There have also been episodes of Zack and Cody I've seen where they insult Asian culture, such as Indians insulting their own gods and beliefs and Japanese culture being laughed at all the time.

Disney's Power Rangers is even worst, they portray just about every Asian male on the show as a nerdy idiot.

I don't have to be Asian to understand racial insults. Other races can be insulted too, y'know.

If you are offended by London Tipton's character and take that as an insult to Asians... no offense, but that's pretty stupid. There are idiotic characters in many shows. Just because she oh so happens to be Asian isn't really a big deal.

I'm... pretty sure a lot of mockery happens in that show. Toward a lot fo stuff. Japanese culture isn't always laughed at. I recall one episdoe where they talked about Japense culture.... and? Yeah.... didn't seem particularly offensive to me. Indians mocking their own gods? I don't recall that particuarly, but I'm Christian, and, yeah, I've mocked God. Probably bad for me in the long run... but, the way I live, my view on religion is different from most others. I do recall one episode where there was that one supposedly religious Indian guy who was obsessed with making money... hey, it happens. Corruption in religion. Catholic church hundreds of years ago, a prime example.

And... I haven't watched Power Rangers since 5th grade-ish, but... nerdy idoit? How does one be nerdy and an idiot, might I ask?

We'll Since I don't have either channel I wouldn't really know.

But I'm a fan of the Disney classics like Alladin and Pocahontas. So simply for that I'd have to say Disney. And from what I've seen the Lilo and Stitch series is pretty good, and thats Kiddy stuff.

And as for 4kids I will never forgive them for what they did to One Piece.

I'm not telling you to watch PR at all, I hate that show anyway. But there was this one ranger I can recall Disney just treated him like trash. He was an Asian whom Disney portrayed as the nerd, the idiot, and the loser all at the same time. Disney has also done this to many other Asians in their shows.

As for the Indian culture, he wasn't exactly mocking his own god. But in that particular episode, it was meant to be made fun of almost the entire time.

And as for 4kids I will never forgive them for what they did to One Piece.

You're right, Kaida. I hate 4Kids just about as much as Disney. But Disney gets my vote simply because they hate Asians.

The old Disney didn't really give a poop about race. In fact, Disney did a great job in making Mulan.

These days, Disney likes portraying Asians with loser roles... They're always portrayed badly in most of their TV shows such as Zack and Cody and Power Rangers.

As for Disney...I can't say I hate them because their old movies were really good, and I never watch TV nowadays so I wouldn't know about their bashing on Asians. I do remember thinking that if Power Rangers didn't have villains that looked like they were made of rubber and plastic, the show would've actually been pretty good.

Like I said, you wouldn't understand at all if you're not Asian. These stereotypes can actually be hurtful since they use the same stereotype over and over. I actually take offence by Disney's sterotypes, along with many other Asian Disney haters. If you were in my shoes, you'd realize how these sterotypes can be hurtful.

And despite what I said earlier, I HAVE watched quite a few Zack and Cody episodes when bored or at friends' houses, and I didn't find anything wrong with London's behavior.

Besides, to Americans, some aspects of Asian culture are probably very strange and possibly laughable. Similarily, American culture can be laughable in...say...China. I wouldn't really know, but there could be an Asian show somewhere with an American character that acts like an idiot. It doesn't apply just to Asia or the US, either; all countries has their own cultures, and they may seem funny to people in other countries.
Also, as Saber said, stereotypes are really common these days. I've noticed they're often included in humor; they're funny because we know at least some of them are true, but they're often so exaggerated it becomes amusing. As for being insulted by stereotypes, how do you think blonde people feel, with all the dumb blonde jokes bouncing around? They probably laugh at them too. All Disney's trying to do with its stereotypes is be funny. Whether you appreciate that type of humor or not is really up to you, but I don't think you can take it as far as claiming Disney hates Asians.

I also agree with Mandi and Saber.

I may not be Asian, but I am an Aussie and also in some ways consider myself British, even if I've never been to England. And as I'm sure you know, in most shows made by other countries Aussies are portrayed as sloppy boozers who can't speak properly. And the English are often portrayed as tea-drinking pompous people.

But I don't take offense because people who watch it know that they stereotypes and its all done in good humour.

You can't say that we don't understand because we're not Asian because Every race has it's stereotypes and all of them do get used in shows not just by Disney.
