Wings

Post by BionicleMandi121 »

Alright, just a little something I thought of.
Winged characters. Some of us have at least one. Everyone else probably knows someone who does. Just for the record, I have seven (out of a total of fifty-something, so it's really not a lot.) Anyway, since this is a PG-rated board, we can't have any nekkid characters walking around. Obviously, however, having a pair of wings sticking out of your back complicates things. Such as getting dressed.

So here's my question for you all, one that I think most people don't bother with. How do winged people wear clothes?
One way is just to sew clothing onto them, but as they grow older/larger they'd have to constantly get new outfits, which is cumbersome and impractical. It could also result in a lot of needle-related injuries.

I've thought up my own solution to this issue (not the one given above; that was just an example), but I wanted to see what other people think.

Yeah....I've always had an issue with this too whenever I draw winged characters.

I thought about it long and hard, and finally just gave up and drew it as if he can magically get the clothes on without interfearing with his wings.

Yeah....it's lame but I doesn't have the time to write more at the moment. Ta!

You need to watch Air TV, like right now. I think you'll appreciate what they do with Kana's wings... except that... maybe you won't.

It's quite an epic story either way, though...
"Irregardless" and "Over exaggerated" are NEVER CORRECT EVER because they are redundant
Regardless means "without regard", and adding "ir" on the front actually makes it a double negative; exaggerate means "to overstate" so you're literally saying "over overstate."
Example: I can not exaggerate the importance of this fact enough, regardless of how often people ignore it.

The way I always pictured it is as if there are buttons or a zipper or something on the back, so they pull it on and do it up under the wings.

Yeah, you just have 1 hole for each wing and you button it around the wing.

Does being a dragon count as having wings? Although he took a human form, but didn't have wings then so i guess that doesn't really count.

And I always thought with females you could just have one of those halterneck tops/dresses that have a low back.
And guys could just go topless ;-\ ^_^ Or they could wear something similar to a tunic or robe.

Some of the clothes have holes torn in on the back for winged Characters. Especially for the leather jackets. other than that, Look at Angel from X-men or something...

Theoretically having holes in the shirt would work, but the actual wings are generally huge. Sure the joint where the wings attach to the shoulder blades would fit in them. But how are you supposed to get the rest of the wing through (unless its a small wing). The holes would end up being bigger then the shirt.

Alien Dice has a good way of solving the problem.
