That is all.
I. Am. So. Friggin. Jealous.
I've wanted to see that for the longest time now. I've been hearing some music from it lately (namely The Song That Goes Like This), and I am desperate to actually see it.
Oh, and wanna know what else sucks (
the Calendar Project? That's true, but not what I'm thinking of)? The theater near us....well here's the direct quote.
"The not-for-profit North Shore Music Theatre (NSMT), faced with reality of the current economic crisis, announced on December 29 that without immediate philanthropic support it will close its doors after 55 years of providing performing arts and educational programming to millions. The Theatre's leadership is urging the public to show its support by purchasing tickets to the remaining performances of Disney High School Musical 2, which runs through January 11th."
I heard rumors that this was happening...but...to see it actually written on the webpage has depressed me greatly. NSMT is where I've seen many fantastic musicals, such as Les Miserables. This news has really bought me down...they do such a fantastic job at NSMT. It's like no other theater I've been to. The stage is circular (and it even rotates), with people sitting all around it. True, I've never been to Broadway (though I did see Lion King in Boston (though I was only 5 or so years old, so that hardly counts)), but they really do do a fantastic job at NSMT. Plenty of the actors were on Broadway before, though, if you check the playbill. This was really my only access to good theater....if it goes bankrupt I....It'll be hard for me....
That stupid fire in 2005. They never quite recovered from that.
"Further compounding the problem is debt that resulted from a devastating fire in 2005 that forced the theatre to make a major investment in its facilities. "
Sigh....this is awful...
