Election '08

Post by Giga-Gar »

U.S. CITIZENS ONLY! DO NOT VOTE IF YOU DO NOT LIVE IN THE U.S.!

With the election close at hand, I've decided to run a pole to see who you will vote for if you are either able to vote or if you would like to vote, but couldn't. for this pole. If you are going to explain why you are voting for someone and not the other, then please, no flame wars or common explanations like "McCain is too old and will die in office. He will drive us into a 100 year war." or "Obama doesn't have enough experience. He will turn this into a marxist country."

Personaly, I'd like to see McCain win the election, or at least employ the "Sad Grampa" strategy.

What, no write in option? When they passed around the pretend ballots in my school, I wrote in Stephen Colbert.

And where's Ralph Nader?
"Irregardless" and "Over exaggerated" are NEVER CORRECT EVER because they are redundant
Regardless means "without regard", and adding "ir" on the front actually makes it a double negative; exaggerate means "to overstate" so you're literally saying "over overstate."
Example: I can not exaggerate the importance of this fact enough, regardless of how often people ignore it.

What?! That wasn't on the ballot... If I knew that, I wouldn't have voted for John McCain, I would've voted for me!

Or... Stephen Colbert. Or something.

Seriously though, I'm more of a McCain supporter. It's kind of a "Lesser of two evils" in my mind, but I guess it's always like that in politics... Obama's one of your stereotypical flip-flopping democrats, and for that alone he wouldn't have my vote if I was old enough to vote...

That, and I actually think Sarah Palin's kind of cool. Alaska, man. Not every day we see a politician from Alaska.

For the record, that one vote for obama was cast by luquos, so please disregard it. For everyone else, please do not vote if you do not live in the U.S. Only U.S. citizens can vote in the real elections, so this is to see how the U.S. portion of our forum would like to vote.

I started out pretty nuetral but rapidly began liking Obama less and less the more I heard about his proposed policies. I'm really hoping McCain wins. And his SNL appearance was great.

According to a poll made within the population of World of Warcraft, Obama would win.

And WoW has more people playing it than there are peeps in some of the US States ;-D

Stephen Colbert! He was actually going to run on both ballots, and only in North Carolina (Or south, I can't remember). But they wouldn't let him run. Poor Colbert...
I've read his book, It's hilarious.

I'm the same way, but I believe Obama is the lesser of two evils...but only slightly.
It's probably just my state influencing me. I DO live in Massachusetts, after all. That's the most democratic state their is.

I'm really against Palin. Before she came along, I thought McCain was the lesser of two evils. But....just gah. GAH!

Also, just after the last eight years, I really don't like the idea of still having a republican in office. I just don't.

Is it because of her voice, or how she's depicted on SNL? Because if so, then that's not a very good reason.

No, not at all.
The SNL skits were funny, though. :D
I really wanted to like her. I would really like to see a woman in office, but I just don't like her.

Honestly, it was the same with me, but for Obama. But his policies flip-flopped until I couldn't remember what he was saying. I know this is horrible and I should go shoot myself but I saw a Obama Biden sticker today and thought "if you mix bin with Laden you get Biden." I don't like that either way is socialism. But McCain offers me some false hope in the reduction of the federal government powers whereas everything Obama has planned will increase it. Palin kinda bugs me too. If McCain wins, I really hope he doesn't keel over. Then again, she does have more experience then Obama... This is a ridiculous election.

The government is unconstitutional. The federal government is supposed to be small, and the President is supposed to be a figure head with some check and balance and war powers mainly.

I know the American Dream is dieing. But it's still possible and people still do it, and write books about it. Socialism will kill what is left of it.

Back in Canada we're doing fine, though our latest government killed our budget surplus (conservatives I might specify) and we're sorta between capitalism and socialism...which I think is rather good.

Also I made it a point to never listen to whatever stuff you hear in ads that end with "I am <candidate> and I approve this message."

You know, I quite agree with that last statement. We already have some Socialism in our society I know, but I like the little we have. Plus, your county runs best with that government, tried and true. America runs best on Dunkin... Capitalism.

I really don't like this whole two-major party candidates thing. Even George Washington disliked the idea of political parties. It's as if some people care more about how much power their party has rather than what would benefit the entire country.
Ugh, and do not get me started on the Electoral College.
