New Dawn

Nikka's eyes widened at Alex's words. She let herself be led into her room, and when the door closed, she collapsed onto her bed in a heap of sobs. She didn't know what was going on, or what was going to happen, but she wouldn't loose Alex again. Nikka sat up, and began to move towards the door, but was stopped. A hand reached out of the dark corner of the room, and held tightly to her arm. "Shout, and I shall be forced to kill you.." a husky voice muttered. Nikka didn't move. "There's a good girl.." the voice muttered. Nikka stared straight forward, afraid of what she might see. "Aww... Well Nikka... I'm sorry I couldn't be the right monster for you.." the voice hissed in her ear, and she was suddenly sure. "Thomas..?" she muttered, turning now. She faced something inhuman. A long muzzle covered in fur portrueded from his now prominent face, and a toothy grin filled her with fear. She whimpered in fear.

Alex stared at the door of Nikka's room. He heard voices, so he knocked on the door with great force.

"Tell him that nothing is wrong.." Thomas hissed into her ear. Nikka winced slightly, and cleared her throat. "Nothing's wrong.." she said quietly. She stood completely still, realizing that Thomas not only had teeth, he had claws as well. He dug them into her back with such force, that she could feel blood running down her back. She winced and held back another whimper.

"Ok." Alex said, but he knew fear from Nikka's voice. Why didn't he see if someone went into her room. Too busy talking. Alex moved away from the door, but ready for anything.

Nikka let out a small cry when Thomas ran his claws down her back, digging into her skin. He hissed at her angrilly, and pulled back. "What to do with you.. hmm.." he said circling her. "Maybe I'll kill your little boyfriend, and make you watch him die..." he suggested, tapping his claws along his jaw, licking some of the blood off. "Do what you want to me.. leave Alex alone.." she said slowly. Thomas laughed. "If you insist, my dear.." he hissed, pouncing. He snarled and dug his claws into her shoulder, and Nikka yelped before unshealthing her fangs. She dug them into Thomas's arm angrilly.

Alex hit the door hard, sending it straight at Thomas, and causing the door to hit him into the wall. He hissed at Thomas and took only seconds to be ontop of him. Undoing a sword from his back, Alex put it up to Thomas' throat, and sliced it. Thomas wasn't prepared for this at all, and held his throat as blood gushed out. "You will die soon Alex. The clan will know what happened to me and be here to spill you blood." Thomas tried to walk out but Alex kicked him back onto the floor.

Nikka scrambled to her feet, and held her shoulder. She was breathing heavily from her brief struggle, and she glanced down at Thomas. "Should we kill him..?" she asked.

Alex gave Nikka his sword. "Be my guest, I have it all on tape. Sorry for putting it in your pocket, but now things will change for you Thomas as you will die."

Nikka took the sword, and stared at it for a moment. She'd never killed anyone before, except for the accident when she was a newborn vampire. She bit her lip, and glanced at Thomas, who was smirking. He knew. He knew she couldn't do it. But that only made her want to even more. She held the sword lightly, and drove it into Thomas's chest, holding back tears again.

Moving as fast as a knife, Alex drew his hand and sliced Thomas head off. Getting a blanket from the hall closet, Alex put it over Thomas' head. Blood was all over the floor as Alex tried to get the body into the bathroom and into the tub. The sword still stuck inside Thomas, Alex removed it and put it on the floor. Taking Nikka by her hand, Alex undid her shirt to see what the damage was. He took a bottle from his pocket and put it on the fleash of the skin. "This will sting."

Nikka winced when Alex put the liquid on her shoulder. It really did sting. She hissed very slightly, and tried to ignore the blood. She knew she would break down as soon as the pain left, but that wouldn't be fore a few moments at the least.

Seeing the deep scraps on her back, Alex drew another bottle, and smiled. "You can hit me if this hurts. It feels like a knife digging into the skin, but will heal in just a few hours." Alex put a finger into it, and touched Nikka's back. Feeling her warmth, and the cold on his finger, he felt bad for her.

Nikka winced, and dug her nails into her own arm. She wouldn't hurt Alex, and the pain from her back blocked out the new pain in her arms. She gritted her teeth, and let a hiss pass through them. When Alex finished, she still felt the pain there, just not as intense. Nikka slumped back into the chair, and fell into a restless sleep.

Taking Nikka into his arms, Alex carried her to her bed and left. Closing the door and locking it, he went back to the bath tub and took the body of Thomas out. Placing it on the table by the council, Alex took out the tape recorder and played it through several times.

"We are in danger now. Protect our kind, and kill the ones responsible for this and killings of people in the town. Alex thanks for this, we understand you now."

Alex turned and left, and went back to Nikka's room. He was locked out, but at least he checked the whole room before he left.

Nikka woke a few hours later and tried to sit up. The wounds in her back were almost gone, but moving irratated the cuts. She winced in pain, but set her feet on the floor. It hurt to stand, but she managed. Nikka yawned slightly, and made her way to her door. She needed to wash the blood off of herself, but when she opened the door, she found Alex standing there.
