The anime is near identical to the manga, excluding fillers, of course... so let's see. Drum Island... is right before Alabasta. (So it's kind of strange that movie 8 is a retelling of Alabasta and movie 9 is a retelling of Drum Island...) Jaya and Skypiea are right after Alabasta, so that's where Gar is right now and he's joining the roleplay. So you should be all right...
Yeah, um, 40 of the 146 episodes aren't available in English and won't be for over a year because Viz sucks. I fail to see what would be the problem with downloading them, since we don't have any other options at the moment.

"Irregardless" and "Over exaggerated" are NEVER CORRECT EVER because they are redundant
Regardless means "without regard", and adding "ir" on the front actually makes it a double negative; exaggerate means "to overstate" so you're literally saying "over overstate."
Example: I can not exaggerate the importance of this fact enough, regardless of how often people ignore it.

As someone whose up to the current episodes and will be majorly joining the One Piece roleplay I have a sujestion.
How bout we have it based time-wise about 50 years befor the current story, that way we wouldn't have to worry about what Oda-sensei has planned and we wont have issues with the devil fruits...

And I had considered that, too, but if we set it 50 years in the past... that's 30 years before Gol D. Roger. Which means first of all that it wouldn't be the age of pirates, and second... that One Piece - the treasure - wouldn't exist. You can't really have a One Piece roleplay without One Piece.
Also... I think it's pretty obvious that we're going to be a pirate crew (I've got dibs on Captain!) but... we can't very well start out like Luffy, just looking for crew members, especially if it's going to take a whole story arc to get each one to join. Still, it would be nice if we didn't have to be all, "Hey, our adventure already started, but we didn't feel like roleplaying that part!" So, any ideas?

Couldn't we do it an alternate dimension? It could have the same things (Devil fruit, One piece, Bad guys, etc.), except Luffy and his crew could just have never existed. Or we could just make it complicated and say we went back in time and made it so Luffy was never a pirate...

I still suggested it first, and as for the Devil's fruit power... gah, I had a feeling that's what you were after when you asked in the Japanese word thread. It just strikes me as... um, COMPLETELY over powered for the beginning of a roleplay. On top of that, a lot of people theorize that that power already belongs to someone - someone you already know, but that you don't know you know. And of course, there are also a lot of people that think he has the kaze kaze (wind) no mi, myself included, so... If you really want the Ryu Ryu no mi, wait. It's just too powerful for the beginning of a roleplay, but you can find it later.
