#337 Something weird
First Comic Previous Comic Next Comic Today's Comic
Looking Back:
This is one of the very rare PV strips that's longer than four panels. At the time, I knew I couldn't fit all the Lovey-dovey Plush Doll stuff into four panels, but I also couldn't think of a good way to split this into two comics, at least not without sacrificing the punch line in one of them. That said, it's not an approach I took very often and, at this point, I've pretty much abandoned it. First off, double length strips take longer to make. Second, the larger size doesn't work very well in my main page's layout. Still, I suppose I might do more double length strips in the future if the story warrants it, but I'd say it's generally something I want to avoid these days.
All that aside, pretty much all the characters and Lovey-dovey Plush Doll stuff in this strip was taken directly (give or take) from the game. While having a bunch of trend chasing super fans is nothing too ridiculous, the question is how the heck they already know so much about, and got so much merchandise for, something you made up a few minutes or seconds ago. Even if we assume that Brendan and May told them about a real thing, there's no way they could become experts on it so quickly. Maybe they just have a bunch of fill in the blank labels and conversation topics they use every time they hear about a new trend to try and convince people that they're hip. That'd be kinda pathetic, but it's about the only way to explain it.
