Well, actually, my lack of a 3ds makes getting distracted by pokemon and, indeed, the new ace attorney game, very unlikely. It's just that I don't have anything to add to any discussions and I don't want to just bump threads, so it ends up being a bit quiet. That's my view, anyway. But I am still around!

Also, aloha!

Hi! I...really haven't made any progress in Pokémon for the past week thanks to Ace Attorney. But I finished that on Friday (speaking of which, I'll just say that the last case has quite the big twist), so I'll be jumping back in soon. Still working on making an EV trained team as well. Though breeding is both dull and time consuming. At the moment, I still need to get a good Adamant Slandslash in Diamond (for eventual transfer to Black and then X) and decide if I want to stick with the Starmie I've got or attempt to breed one with better IVs. Once that's done, I can move them into Black for EV training, which should be much quicker and easier than breeding. That'll be five of my seven battle Pokémon (one's a spare to swap in an out based on rule sets), but I'm holding off on Blaziken and Venasaur as I'll be doing them in X so I can get ones with the Dreamworld abilities.

Other than that, I just go back from Ender's Game. Compared to the book, they shortened the ending a good bit, which cut out a lot of exposition that I really wish would have been left in, but it was otherwise very good.

Moi,

I wish that Pokemon was my reason for being away, but I unfortunately have not gotten any new Pokemon games for a while. You know, poor high school student working on college applications and all. My real reason for not posting? Mainly that I was the last to post and I dislike double posting, especially when it's just to bump something. Also, I had my SAT retake yesterday and I was brain-dead for pretty much the entire rest for the day.

So, Halloween went well for me. My 'dressing up' ended up with me looking like a pretty convincing film noir type character. I spent a good amount of my time in school talking about dames and monologuing to myself. Quite a bit of fun. Might put up some pictures later.

Anyway, that's all I got. Stay radical people!

Hey.

Yeah... there's really not much of note to say of my life right now, other than band and busy. So the usual. I don't have a 3DS either, and it's not likely that I'm getting one any time soon due to being a busy/poor college student. The next week and a couple days of my life is going to be extremely busy and stressful as I have 4 exams as well as drum major elections. And drum major elections happens to be 15 minutes after I've just gotten out of taking my two toughest exams one right after the other :eyeroll:

So yeah. Been practicing conducing and working on my speech and trying to prepare for the enormous amounts of questions I'll be asked all the while knowing that I can never truly prepare for all of the insane things that I'm gonna get asked. So that'll be fun. And terrifying. Wheeeeeee.

Hi! This should be a fairly normal week for me...right up until Friday when I'm taking advantage of the holiday weekend to go visit my grandmother up north. Probably not going to be a very exciting trip, but we'll see what happens. I honestly expect most of the time will be spent sitting around in her apartment playing Pokémon. Though, if she's in a good mood, maybe I can get her out to a movie or shopping mall or something.

Hi everybody. It's been a while.

So, I'm a college student now. If only I could find a job. Any tips on that front?

Also, how have things been going for everyone?

Hi! Nice to see you back, BFC. Job hunting isn't all that easy these days. Really all I can say is keep looking and leverage any personal connections you have that may help.

Yeah, honestly the best way to get a job these days is networking. Any friends you have that are working at a place that is hiring, you want to talk to them about getting you in there.

Aloha! The new Assassin's Creed game is very fun, and I'm glad I picked it up despite not liking the last one very much.

Hi! I pre-ordered the PS4 version of AC4. I don't plan on getting a PS4 at launch, but I'll probably pick one sometime during the spring, and I don't need to play AC4 right away, so I figured I might as well get the best version. I wouldn't have pre-ordered it...except that the limited edition is pretty awesome and I'm a sucker for that kind of stuff.

I'm just finishing up Beyond Two Souls, myself. Next up, Assassin's Creed 3 (yeah, I'm a little behind) and more Pokémon. Though the Phoenix Wright DLC will interrupt that the moment it's released.

Lots of Pokemon here, and still playing AC here and there.

That being Animal Crossing, not Assassin's Creed, though.

So Colly's car died two weeks ago. Something wrong with the motor apparently, so a big expensive fix. Also, to compensate for her current carlessness, I've been driving between her college and mine a lot. Mine is about 25 miles south from home. Hers is 20 miles north. But all her college buddies are pretty cool at least... I've been seeing a lot of them.
"Irregardless" and "Over exaggerated" are NEVER CORRECT EVER because they are redundant
Regardless means "without regard", and adding "ir" on the front actually makes it a double negative; exaggerate means "to overstate" so you're literally saying "over overstate."
Example: I can not exaggerate the importance of this fact enough, regardless of how often people ignore it.

My head is acting up again. Yay lingering effects from traumatic injuries. It feels like my brain is trying to use a sledgehammer to escape my skull.

In other news, I have a leopard gecko that I named Krogan Urdnot Wrex.

In other other news, I'm trying to find a good game engine on which I could make a good Metroidvania game. Anyone know an engine that would be good for that?

In other other other news, the fact that only half of the students in my college English class knew what the Gettysburg address was has made me lose my faith in the public school system.

In other other other other news, Muramasa Rebirth is quite fun, and a good way to spend a night of being too sick to sleep.

Hi! If you want an engine that doesn't require considerable programming knowledge, your best bet would probably be IG Maker. There's still a huge amount of work involved in making a game, especially if you want original artwork, but that's a different discussion.

As for your classmates lack of historical knowledge, that's only the beginning. I don't remember exact numbers anymore but I saw a survey a few years back and the amount of people who didn't know who George Washington is and didn't know what side of the country the Pacific ocean was on was really depressing. The public school system here could use some pretty serious overhauls.

Well, I would say that's a debate that would take weeks out of everybody's life just having. I mean, it's not like George Washington's identity and the location of the Pacific Ocean aren't taught in schools.

Aloha! Getting Christmas shopping done early is really nice. I just feel like I'm forgetting somebody...

Hi! I'm sure they are, but it's a question of curriculums, teaching methods, and student motivation. But anyway, that would be a long discussion / debate so unless you guys want to start something like that up, I'll leave it here.

In other news, I just got interviewed for a contract position on a really cool game (that I can't say anything about due to NDA). On the down side, while I think the interview went really well, the recruiter said that, while I looked good overall, my limited amount of non-indie work (those EverQuest Next stories are the only things I've done for a big name game) and the fact that I have to devote a decent part of my time to teaching, are going to really go against me in the consideration. I'm certain I could handle it...but we'll just have to see how things go. Well, at worst, I suppose I can be happy that I was able to get to the phone interview stage. Must mean my resume's starting to look more solid (with the teaching, EQN work, etc.), which is always good.

Hey.

I have no idea what I'm taking next semester. I've been ahead on math and physics and now that I'm done with math and physics I can't just take the next one of those, and only two of my major requirements can be taken next semester. The next courses I have to take are fall only, so that's fun. So my schedule is looking decidedly empty... and decidedly less-engineery.
