Hey.

I'm really tired of searching for answers and never finding any. I wish I knew why I existed. Hashtag existential angst.

I also wish I could stop caring about the affairs of my ex and her ex that are pretty much not exes anymore because they're planning on living in Japan together next year and exes don't really do that. I also really wish facebook wouldn't show me status updates of people that aren't my friends just because a bunch of people that are my friends liked this status. Because I really really was truly happy for my ex when I learned that she'd gotten into her teach-English-in-Japan program, but I really, really don't care to see a status indicating that either her ex also got into this program, or that, regardless, her ex is planning on following her to Japan.

Bril-li-ant.

Sorry 'bout the angst. I dunno, I'd just pictured them going their separate ways at the end of the school year, not that any of it should matter to me anymore. I'm sick of angsting about the whole thing. I just wish I could figure out happiness again.

BUT ENOUGH ANGST TIME TO GO POST LIKE A ROBOT

Meaning? The meaning of life is to live! Speak your desires plainly and get what you want! Pursue happiness!

Also, bless. Those orange indicators were annoying me.

Also also, of course, because games don't require somebody have something to say in order to make a post. I mean, there's literally a thread in there where the goal is just to post an increasing number.

Message for you, sir.

"Irregardless" and "Over exaggerated" are NEVER CORRECT EVER because they are redundant
Regardless means "without regard", and adding "ir" on the front actually makes it a double negative; exaggerate means "to overstate" so you're literally saying "over overstate."
Example: I can not exaggerate the importance of this fact enough, regardless of how often people ignore it.

Stevenson wrote: Speak your desires plainly and get what you want! Pursue happiness!
My problem is I don't know what I want, ergo, I don't know what happiness is for me, so I have no idea how to go about getting it. I'm desperately trying to figure out what I want from life, but I have no answers. The only thing I know for certainty that I want is that, in two years, I would love to be the drum major of the Big Red Marching Band. Alas, there is no way to go about achieving that until two years from now and that isn't even a lasting goal, so I am lost. I have no idea what I want for my future. I'm currently undecided as to my major, and I don't even know if I want to be in engineering anymore, to be honest, which freaks me out. I've done a lot of soul-searching lately and I still have no answers. Bleh. It's also frustrating that the two people that have come closest to understanding me (which is a feat since I don't even understand myself) are my best friend from home and my ex girlfriend. My best friend from home is off at a college 6 hours from me and my ex is... well, my ex. I can't exactly go to her with my problems anymore.

Hi! Don't worry too much, Saber. A lot of people don't figure out what they want to do with their lives so quickly. My brother didn't even choose a major for his first couple years in college. If you're not sure about egineering, take a few classes in other subjects that interest you and see if you like them better. You've got plenty of time to figure things out. And hey, if you want to be drum major in two years, it's never too early to start working towards that (via practice and the like).

As for the meaning of life, that depends on who you're talking to. God? Family? Helping others? Enjoying life? Trying new things? Creating something to make peoples' lives better/more enjoyable/more productive? It could be any of those, some combination, or something entirely different. Personally, I rather like what the book of Ecclesiates concludes on the subject, which boils down to enjoy life and keep God's commandments.

There's just a pretty strict schedule in the college of engineering. You need to get on track with your major early on if you wanna get all of the pre recs done so you can graduate on time. And conducting to myself can only do so much for practice.

To me, the most important thing in life is helping others, but I just can't find a good way to do more of that in a way that would make my life more meaningful. I'm working on it, what with training to be an EARS counselor, but then I look like where my current career path is headed, and I think of myself in a dead end job where I'm just working for money and not helping people... and I just get really confused. Most of my life so far, I've just been focused on getting into somewhere in life where I make good money, but I'm figuring out more and more that money can't buy happiness.

Hi! Making other peoples' life better is a noble goal, but you should make a good life for yourself too. And hey, there are lots of ways to help people, including giving money to charity.

Money may not make you happy, but it's hard to deny that it's hard to help others when you can't take care of yourself. There's nothing wrong with working hard to get a job that earns you a lot of money; it's what you do with money and success that make you happy or fail to do so. Also, if engineering is something you are good at and are interested in, there's no reason not to do it. If you're not confident or don't care about it one way or another, but you're just studying it for monetary reasons, that's different. But don't change career paths just because you don't think you'll be able to help people as an Engineer, because you will, one way or another.

I don't want to just toss money at people to get them on their feet. I want to help people. Sometimes I think I'd be best suited to be a therapist or clinical psychologist or whatever, but then I remember that math and science is my strength and writing papers bores me. I'm pretty good at engineering stuff, but I don't really feel a calling toward it, and engineering just kinda seemed like a good place to be in life due to the money. I don't want life to be about money. I want it to be about meaning something. I so desperately want to impact the lives of others. I guess that would be a reason to be. If the lives of others were changed for the better because I was around. But, right now in my life, nothing is accomplishing that.

Theres lots of different kinds of jobs in which you help people Saber. It depends on what interests you and in what way you want to help people. eg, a personnal trainer helps people to loose weight, get fit and feel better about themselves. Myself, I'm working on being a teacher because I enjoy helping otheer to learn aand teaching people new things, and being a high school teach, as I'm currently learning, also givs me the opporunity to help those who stuggel at school, or misbehaive, etc. Its surprising how much teachers affect out lives. I knew they had a pretty big role, but its actually alot larger then what I initialy thought.

Little off topic their, but what I'm trying to get to is that theres options out there that don't always involve alot of paperwork, you should try doing some reaserch into whats availible, something you haven't thought of might appeal to you.

In the meantime *hugs* We're here to help in whatever way we can, kay. ^_^
