The thing about EVs is that they weren't added to the games till Ruby/Sapphire. When I started playing Ruby I assumed it used the same system that R/B and G/S did and by the time I found out about EVs my team was already like level 90. Aside from the fac that it takes forever to get a pokémon with good IVs, it also takes forever to level pokémon up to 100 and I decided that breeding new pokémon and EV training them just wasn't worth the time it would take to do so. Besides, I think it's unlikely that I'll lose a battle simply because I didn't put all my EVs into one stat, it's not that big of a difference.

So yeah, my current team isn't EV trained but if I ever make a completely new team I'd probably do it then.

I'm pretty much a total newbie when it comes to playing Pokemon (despite having had Red Version since, I don't know, fourth grade). I just run around and rely on luck and pure force to take down other trainers. Harhar.

So yeah, I have no idea what you guys are talking about. ^^'

I've never bothered with EV training, either. It seems like a waste of time to me. My Pokemon seemed to be plenty strong without being picky about their opponents. Just as I'M not picky about the Pokemon I raise. You can take your IVs and natures and shove 'em; I'll work with what I've got.
"Irregardless" and "Over exaggerated" are NEVER CORRECT EVER because they are redundant
Regardless means "without regard", and adding "ir" on the front actually makes it a double negative; exaggerate means "to overstate" so you're literally saying "over overstate."
Example: I can not exaggerate the importance of this fact enough, regardless of how often people ignore it.

Yeah, I don't do that, but I have heard of it. I function well enough well on my own.

That bloody fighting gym is annoying though-that's as far as I got before I had to stop playing....I wasn't allowed to save, and I accidentally turned it off, so, yeah.

And I AM picky about my pokemon, but not natures and whatnot. I just only take certain pokemon.

Silver summed things up pretty nicely in my opinion. If you like EV training go for it, I'm just not too crazy about it.

You know that stat boosts your Pokemon gets when they level up? Those are partially influenced byt the Pokemon they gained experience from to get that level up. Different Species of Pokemon increase different stats; Pidgeot raises speed, for example. So if you got a level up defeating only Pidgeots (or other Pokemon that increase Speed), you would get more speed than anything else.

Or you could do it the easy way... giving Pokemon Carbos has basically teh same effect. That's the impression I got, at least.

Yeah, there's basically a limited amount of bonus points that are added to various stats on level up depending on the things Silver mentioned. EV training is manipulating that stuff so that all those bonus points only go to the stats you want them to.

I have done that to some extent with certion pokemon that I had. I have an all Shuckle team that I increased their Special Defence by using my other games and had teams of pokemon that raises spec d and used the daily battles in your secret bases. But I have trained in areas also where I know the general population raised the stats I needed to raise. I've yet to try and mess with natures. Way too time consuming in my opinion.
