Hi! Neo, even if you do get a backwards compatible PS3 I'd recommend keeping the PS2 both because there's usually a handful of games where the backwards compatibility doesn't work, and you can't use PS2 controllers on a PS3 so if you have or ever get any games with special controllers you'll be in trouble.

For example, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is available for X360 and PS3, as well as the PC. You can only download official patches and content for the console versions of the game which you must purchase; however, the PC version has TONS of fanmade content available completely for free.
And no, maps made with an in-game tool and submitted and distributed online don't count as fanmade content since they are officially distributed by the developers (i.e. Brawl).

Soul Caliber would be great with a FE character.

Oh I intended to keep my PS2. No real reason to get rid of it. I still have my Game Cube :)
Main problem for me right now is space to put all 3 of my systems if I get the PS3. I really am limited on space til next May. Though I might beable to squeeze it somewhere though my Wii's cords are almost at their max lenght right now.
