Ubersoft Help Desk

I'm starting to run out of comics that haven't been done in the club before... Not sure whether many of you will like this or not but...

Help Desk (aka Ubersoft) is one of the oldest web comics on the internet and still going today. You can start at the beginning but, since the archives are huge, and you may not got some of the old strips (depending on your computing knowledge), you may want to just want to read the introduction and then start the beginning of one of the more recent story arcs like here, here, or here.
Plot: The comic focuses on the goings on at Ubersoft, a software developer that can best be described as an extremely evil Microsoft. The company is actually run by a demon whose goal is to torment the people of the world through bad software. Most of the comics focus on Alex, one of the phone support reps, but other help desk employees and some of the programmers, marketing guys frequently show up as well. Not to mention The Boss and Binky the Cheerful Winking Paperclip. Help Desk is a comedy and it's mostly a lot of short story arcs and one-shot strips.
Art: The art starts out ok and improves a bit over time but, with the exception of a couple of the more major story arcs, it sticks to a pretty simplistic style.
Things to Know: Quite a lot of the humor is based on current goings on in the computer industry. So, if you're not too knowledgable about it, you may not get a lot of the jokes. Ubsersoft takes the place of Microsoft, but real companies such as Apple and Google show up from time to time as well.
Favorite Strips: There's a lot I like, but it'd be a pain to find them right now. The SCO arc was really good (though only if you know about SCO and what they were trying to do a while back), and nearly anything with Binky is amusing.

Well, I got kind of tired of strips with the punchline of, "MICROSOFT IS EVIL!"

Other than that, it's quite good.

Even Microsoft at its worst isn't anywhere near as bad as Ubersoft though. Word can actually print things, for example.

I've been starting from the way beginning because I dislike skipping comics. I also dislike commenting on it until I finish the entire comic up to recent updates... but this one seems to be taking a while xD so I'll post now.

I like the idea, and anything that plays off of technology is rather humorous to me. >>
The art is REALLY simplistic, something I usually don't like, but it works for this comic so I don't mind it. There's a few things that bug me, but I can't quite figure out what... mostly it's a nice read when I have some free time on my hands. Also, Binky scares me.

Never heard of it before though. x]

I agree the style is very simplistic. It's kind of like a sprite comic, only the images that are re-used have been drawn. I like the humor and how it's startlingly close to reality. However, every so often the punchline of the comic would be undermined by my memories of an all to similar conversation with tech support. One time I was on the phone with those people for two hours and got nothing fixed. But as a whole Ubersoft is amusing.

And you were right, I read the beginning but was almost lost. So, I jumped to 2005 and got un-almost-lost...yeah...

Binky, that stupid paper clip. He never helped me. I just liked making him turn into a tornado and stuff when the teacher was talking. Sometimes it was a dog or a cat. But yeah, the comics with him in them are funny. Those giant eyes the author gave him though are creepy. But not as creepy as the eyes of a Wigglytuff, right Astral? ;-\

One of my favorite story arcs has to be this one. Binky happens to be in it too. It's about how iPods try to take over Ubersoft by turning everyone into dancing silhouettes.

Also, I found this comic to be pretty funny.

Wow, they are evil. I wonder if all tech support is actually like that? Dodging questions, convincing you that the problem is not really a problem.

Anyway, I found this comic, this comic, and this comic funny.

Well. This is a good comic. I'm not too far into it, but I like it so far. Yes, all tech support is like that (just kidding). I'll finish it when I have time. (So during Gen. Chem.)

Heh, I actually started reading Help Desk to kill time during a class as well (html class). Anyway, I'll be leaving this comic open until Wednesday and then it'll be Silver's turn to post a new one.
