And the Web Comic of the Week Club is back! Albiet, a week later than planned.

Current Member List:
Josiah
Silver
Celebifly
Kaida
Doodleshark
NabMaster

To recap the rules... Every wednesday one person will be the club host for the week (we'll go in the order of the list above). The host should post a link to a webcomic as well as some comments on the comic (and maybe link to some favorite strips if they're not in the first 50). Club members should then read said comic (if you don't have time to read the whole comic read at least 50 strips) and post their thoughts on it at some point during the week. The comic will be discussed until the following wednesday when the next host takes over.

Now for this week's comic...Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire
Plot Summary: Dominic Deegan is an oracle (he can see the future) that always seems to get pulled into conflicts that happen around him, some being fairly small scale while others have the fate of the world at stake. This is a fantasy comic, mostly humurous but can get pretty dark and serious at times. It's divided into story arcs although there's a bunch of random humor strips before the first arc begins.
Art: The early strips don't look particularily great but it improves fairly quickly as eventually ends up being pretty high quality stuff.
Things to Know: The author is fond of bad puns and alliteration so jokes based on those pop up from time to time. The comic is mostly PG but can get over PG-13 at times with some of the more serious arcs having some violent and/or adult situations.
Favorite Strips Not in the First 50: I'll post these later in the week when I have time.

I read Oracle for hire. There are some over used puns in there (the broken finger, something's fishy, etc) but the art is right.
The 'death from above' was funny with Spark.

This is a very humorous webcomic. It's definitely one I'm showing my friends over here

I always liked this strip. Only problem is, if you haven't read all the ones before it you won't get it at all.

I really like this one. I don't know why. Maybe because somebody gets hit with a dead fish in it.

Ok, I read pretty far because Oracle for Hire pwns. I even enjoyed the Awful Alliteration and Pitiful Puns. I think I mostly needed some way to try to pretend the 4kids dub of One Piece wasn't happening. I don't know how to feel about Melvin enjoying that horrible perversion of anime...

ANYWAY! I don't know the number of the strip I got up to, but it was way freaken past 50.

So um, this one here is kind of spoiler-y if you haven't read too far, but I rather enjoyed it. I am so putting White Magic in my Sloganizer now in hopes of getting it to say "I quite Smoking with White Magic."

Andthiswas probably the single funniest panel I've seen in my life. And thenthis one's just classic.

Yep, DD, is pretty awesome. I'll even admit that the alliteration and puns do kinda grow on you. And I just realized, I almost forgot to mention my favorite strip.

Haha I was tempted to give that one to a friend of the family who's a banker. I've now read Really far past the 100 mark (I just finished the strip for Monday, May 30, 2005), and I gotta say, this is absolutely awesome! I'm glad I joined this group :pepsi:

Oh, and I forgot to post in that last bit,
[SPOILER, sort of]
the older bro's zombie (when it starts talking) made me laugh, just because of the dad's "quilt" jokes :) http://www.dominic-deegan.com/view.php?date=2005-06-02

I just finished the series (but now I'm Very much behind in homework...I need to study for a test on Oedipus Rex and do a 5 page essay ASAP!) and I have a new favourite comic strip, partially because I'm still laughing over the comments in the top-right box:

Jacob is definitely one of my favourite characters. :pepsi:
