Who would be interested?
Ok, I've had an idea for an RP/Game for quite a while now and I want to know who'd be interested in joining if I start it.
Storywise, it's a mix of comedy and action. I don't really want to give the plot away yet. Gameplay wise, it's a more structured than most of our RPs. I would act as the game master. I'd tell you guys where you were and why you're there, and frequently pop back in to describe new areas you enter, things you encounter, monsters that suddenly attack, etc. You guys would be free to explore the areas and deal with any complications I throw at you however you'd like (well, as long as it fits with the setting and your characters of course).
The RP would be episodic, as in after you complete your adventures in one area the current episode would end and the next one would begin. New players could join (or rejoin) between episodes and players could leave or be dropped then as well. Also, the story involves competing teams. If enough people join there will be multiple teams of real people. If we don't have enough people everyone will be on one team and the competing teams will be NPCs controlled by me. If more people join later on new teams could be formed between episodes.
I figure that we'd need at least four active players (not counting myself) for this to work but there's room for a lot more if people are interested. So what does everyone think?

Yeah, this sounds like it could be fun... though, and I know you said you didn't want to say much about the plot, I'd like to know a bit more than 'comedy and action' before I go saying, 'Sign me up!'
And it's true we could stand to give the structured rp thing a try, since lately our unstructured style has been... well, not seeing a whole lot of activity.

"Irregardless" and "Over exaggerated" are NEVER CORRECT EVER because they are redundant
Regardless means "without regard", and adding "ir" on the front actually makes it a double negative; exaggerate means "to overstate" so you're literally saying "over overstate."
Example: I can not exaggerate the importance of this fact enough, regardless of how often people ignore it.

Ok, ok, I'll give the basics of the plot. Guess there's no real point in hiding it. Besides, I already told a couple people at one point or another...
The name of the game is Portal Panic, which also happens to be the name of the universe's most popular game show. Problem is, Earth is a bit behind the times, technology wise, and doesn't get UBC (the Universal Broadcasting Company) so we know nothing about it.
In Portal Panic each team represents a planet (sometimes a planet may have several teams competing). Teams are comprised of idividuals randomly selected from a single planet. To make things more intersting, the people running Portal Panic have decided to form a team of players from a planet that knows nothing about the game.
You would play yourself, or a reasonable facsimilie of yourself. A normal human here on Earth who has been unexpectedly transported into deep space to compete for fame, glory, and a ton of prizes.
Portal Panic is divided into rounds. Part 1 of the game has five rounds. Each round teams are sent through portals leading to different parts of the universe (cities, jungles, etc, etc, etc) (all teams don't use the same portal each round but there's always at least two teams per portal). The teams must then explore their surroundings and find the escape portal to leave the area and continue to the next round. Some portals are easy to find, some aren't. Some areas are easy to search, some have obstacles, monsters, and the like that will get in the way. Teams may also attempted to mislead, hinder, or even attack other teams. Fortunately, at the beginning of every round, players will be given special items and abilities to help them.
Of course, that's only the beginning. There's special rules, bonus rounds, and all sorts of stuff like that. Plus with a game so big and popular you never know what's going on behind the scenes...

Well, Stevenson, you're definitely the only one, because those definitely weren't my first thoughts exactly when I read the description...This definitley is remiscent of a Jimmy Neutron special with Tim Allen....
What? It was on, it's not like I meant to watch it...okay, I did....but.....blerg.
Anyway, NOW I'm going to go ahead and say 'Sign me up!'

Ok, it's ready to go! Since this game is gonna require a lot of threads, I have it its own section. It's in the RP catagory right under the OOC board. So go there, read the stuff, and make your characters.
Whew, didn't realize how long it would take to get things set up so I think I'll wait and post in the other RPs in the morning after I get some sleep.
