Re: The Big(?) Issues Thread
You know, theres not all that many Starbucks around Aussie, their kind of outweighed by, dare I say it... The Coffee Club. Their food and coffee is average or below depending where you go and its way overpriced.
And I have a dislike for McD, and yet I seem to have it fairly often, usually because I'm waiting for the train to go home at 11pm and I'm hungry and its the only place open at the train station, or in some cases like in Toombul there's a choice of McD or McD or McD, there used to be a KFC there, I think a subway or red rooster too but they got taken out. There is sizzler, but that's more expensive.

I actually don't drink coffee of any kind so I've got no idea if Starbucks is any good or not. Their green tea lattes aren't bad though, and the green tea frappacinos are pretty good.

But yeah, it's overpriced. Why does it have to be so tasty! I mean Coffee that's already good enough that you don't have to add sugar!? AMAZING!
I've never had Starbucks so I can't really comment on that. Maybe when I move to Canada though. Idk.
Zagan's thoughts: Her coffee really wasn't all that great..

I thought this thread was about issues, not coffee.

"But I wanted my car to be red!"
"But this is red honey!"
"But not my red! This red is a shade too dark! I'm running away and you're never going to see me again and I hate you!"
So yeah. Anyway, I think Starbucks is putting some addictive mind control substance into their absurdly overpriced coffee so they will have to make us keep drinking it and fund their plans for a new world order! The more of their coffee you drink, the more powerful their mind control device(which you helped pay for!) will work on you when they put their plan into action. Now, obvously the substance doesn't work on everyone. The Starbucks R&D team are most likely taking a portion of the new world order money to fund research to find out why there is an immunity and how to eliminate it. Currently it's not doing too well.
Basicly, we're making a mountain out of a mole hill. YOu know how you sometimes see people make a big deal over trivial things such as two parents giving their spoiled daughter a car for her 16th birthday.Josiah wrote:FYI, Eclectric, when posting in a thread for the first time you should make a habit of reading the first post of the thread to get an idea of what it's about. As you can tell from that line... I also do not drink at Starbucks, not only because I also do not like coffee, but because in Canada they've been largely supplanted by Tim Hortons. But my mum and sister love the tea at Starbucks, so I've had some experience there, and all I can say is that all of their stuff is way too rich. One time I had some chocolate-chip banana bread from their pastry selection that was so sweet it made me sick. Us rugged Canucks don't need you 'Mericans and your fancy bookshop coffee and your Swiss pastries and your sub-par hockey teams and your Brangelina and your right-wing extremist nutjobs and your war-mongering and your gansta rap and your baseball and your bail-out plans and your four downs in football! Real men play football with only three downs! And longer fields! And grizzly bears! (Okay, I made that one up, but still, football with bears would be pretty freaking sweet... is any of this reaching you?) Anyways, bottom line is Starbucks blows.

Re: The Big(?) Issues Thread
I never actually went to Starbucks until I was in Japan. And even then it was only because my brother was visiting and he wanted to go. I ended up getting a green tea frappacino and I have to admit that I think those are pretty good. I only got them every once in a while though, until my favorite smoothie place closed. Now I tend to get one about once a week as a replacement.
But anyway... Maybe it's the music in the stores that hypnotic instead of the drinks? They've got some odd playlists...

Re: The Big(?) Issues Thread
I've never gone to a Starbucks, or had coffee for that matter. I've seen plenty, though. The route from New York/Penn Station to FIT has about three, two on the same block it think too (my class is over... kinda miss it, but don't miss getting up at 6 on Saturday.) Then there's one in a plaza near me, some attached to Barnes & Noble stores, and various others.
But everyone around here seems to get their coffee from Wawa or Dunkin' Donuts. Wawa is the best convenience store ever, I don't care what anyone else thinks

Re: The Big(?) Issues Thread
Time for a new issue! So, today we'll pondure the question of why "writers' block" is a block. Why can't it be writers' wall, or writers' sphere, or something like that?
Re: The Big(?) Issues Thread
There's Mr. Writer. He wants to write, but his head won't let him. it sets up a blockade that Mr. Writer tries to pass through, over or around in some way.

Re: The Big(?) Issues Thread
Because, block is both a noun and a verb. I don't think wall is. So the writer's block blocks writers. And there's nothing to sphere but spheres themselves.
Also, a writer's wall sounds like a graffiti artist's hangout.
