Hey.

Today sucked.

Basically, we lost our hockey game (badly), I fail at life at being social, and I might've made a stupid mistake that might cost me $90. HOORAAY....

Konnichiwa.
Got severely annoyed with some of my suitemates last night when they burst into the common area, with three boys (I live in an all-girls suite; heck our entire floor is female), and proceeded to talk extremely, obnoxiously loudly. At 2:30 AM. I had to open my door and tell them to stop three times before they would, and even then they moved to one of the girls' rooms so that "she can't hear us." Somehow missing the point that dorm walls are so thin, a phone conversation next door is enough to keep me awake at night. - -
By the time they finally shut up, it was past 3 AM. I was by then so upset I was literally crying with frustration (how do they not know how loud they're being?) and needed almost another hour to calm down and go back to bed. >>

Yesterday my debit card was stolen. It was not awesome.

Heso! Yeah, so I leave my card in my backpack while I'm at work... don't carry cash, and I kinda figured no one would have any use for my card without my PIN or my signature. But someone took it anyway... and they proceeded to somehow spend all my money at the grocery store right next to Burger King. The bad news? Burger King doesn't have security cameras. The good news? Genuardis does. This person has stolen from Burger King before, but has never taken a card - only cash, and usually right from the register. However, we never had any proof because we don't have cameras. Since I have all my card information, I can track it and find out what purchases were made, when they were made, then check the security at Genuardis to see who made them. I'm quite sure I already know who it is, seeing as she's been the main suspect in all previous Burger King thefts and she gets away with it because she's the manager's daughter, and if it's on camera this will finally be proof.
"Irregardless" and "Over exaggerated" are NEVER CORRECT EVER because they are redundant
Regardless means "without regard", and adding "ir" on the front actually makes it a double negative; exaggerate means "to overstate" so you're literally saying "over overstate."
Example: I can not exaggerate the importance of this fact enough, regardless of how often people ignore it.

Hi! Good luck Silver! I hope you catch the thief and get your money back. Not sure about your debit card but with mine, I'm pretty sure it doesn't ask for a PIN so long as the purchase is below a certain amount. Convenient, I suppose, but not great for security. And hardly anyone bothers to check signatures anyway, especially if you use those machines where you sign on a touch screen, since most of them turn any signature into a mass of squiggly lines. Not sure what the dess code is for Burger King (haven't been in one in years), but I'd recommend keeping your wallet either on your person, in your house, or locked away somewhere whenever possible. At least that's what I do, just to be safe.

Hey.

EXTRA EXTRA READ ALL ABOUT IT!

MASSACHUSETTS MIGHT HAVE A REPUBLICAN SENATOR!

Yeah, that's right! Election is today... and it's gonna be close! Coakley and Brown are REAL CLOSE! And, him (Scott Brown, Republican) being elected would make him the 41st (I think) vote, and could make health care go away, SO THIS ACTUALLY MATTERS!

GASPNESS! Might Massachusetts, the CRAZY LIBERAL state, actually have a Republican in the Senate? Madness!

...I don't even know what they stand for. All of Scott Brown's commercials are his daughers going "Hi, we're Scott Brown's daughters, and our dad is running for the senate!" All Marth Coakley's are "Hi, this is why you shouldn't vote Scott Brown!" One of them was even like "Scott Brown is going to restrict women's right to choose. He will allow women to be raped. Marth Coakley, however, is here for the women, and will offer help to rape victims." Heh... it's all pretty bad. I really have no idea about either canidates, other than what my dad just told me (Brown is anti-abortion and wants a strong military presence, which is why he voted Coakley even though he's registered Republican). My friend also decided he'd vote Coakley were we old enough, because he got 4 calls from Scott Brown yesterday, and it was annoying :-P

Oh, and it snowed ALL DAY! We got out of school a whopping 30 minutes early. Oh, and elections are held at the fieldhouse at our school. Guess who got caught in MAJOR traffic on the way to school and had to get out of the car and walk the last quarter mile? Uh, basically half the school (I include myself amongst those)! Start of school was delayed 20 minutes to allow for all the busses to get there. Then it started snowing. Just makes traffic worse :D

Heso! Thanks to this whole fiasco, I am now officially the hero of Burger King~

She confessed. Everyone's favorite local police officer (he's been in charge of D.A.R.E. for like ten years, so he really is - everyone knows him) came to Burger King while both Heather (the perpetrator) and I were working. I was called up front to answer a few questions, Heather hid in the back. As if that wasn't suspicious enough, she then get a text from her mother telling her to go home immediately; the manager on duty tried to contact her mother (who's kind of the general manager, as in the one that's really in charge) but couldn't get a response. I got off work, headed over to Colly's place, we were just kind of hanging around... got another call from the police with an interesting update.

She confessed. She confessed to having used the money on my card - apparently, although it was a debit card, if you just tell the cashier it's a credit card, they'll use it as such and don't need a PIN. Yeah... So she confessed to spending it, but not to taking it. To which I say: like hell she didn't take it. She blamed some kid Anthony that hangs around Burger King from time to time... but he wasn't there that day. On top of that...

This is why I thought it would be ok to leave the card where I did. I had it in my backpack, in the office. No one is allowed to go in the office except the managers. No one. Two problems with that, though... 1. she's the manager's daughter so she does what she wants. 2. No security cameras to see who goes in there anyway. So although we can't fully check who goes into the office... you do have to go through the kitchen to get there. I was in the kitchen the whole time, and Anthony didn't ever come through. So that story is total crap, she was the only one that could have taken it.

But still: she confessed! Which means I win! And hopefully the end of her stealing, and even more hopefully the end of her job. She hardly works anyway, just tells everyone else what to do... which is why no one likes her. So when Colly and I ran back to BK after that phone call, everyone there gathered around to listen to the story and they could've had a party right there when said that she'd confessed. It was pretty awesome.

Sounds awesome Silver. Ugh, I hate people who can just do whatever they want like that, and it's great to see them fall like that. I know that probably sounds mean, but...that's just how I feel .

Hah, Saber, that is such a coincidence. I was just reading the other day in my history book that Massachusetts was the only state which Nixon didn't get when he ran for his second term. This sounds interesting...

Sooo I was doing canning Saturday at ShopRite for a fundraiser coming up. We're going to have to dance, or at least stay on our feet, for twelve hours. There's gonna be food and stuff, so we'll be okay. Anyway, as part of the canning we helped people bag their groceries, kinda makes them feel more inclined to donate.

So I'm bagging and I realize that all these people are buying a crapload of canned goods. I had to go through so many bags cause you can't put too many in one (especially since most of the people were elderly). Took me a while to look up and notice the blaring "Can Can Sale" sign :smack:. How did I not see the giant signs? It was crazy, and so many people were buying cat food. Like one in every three. And they're always buying like a hundred of those tiny Fancy Feast things. Oh there were so many strange people in that store. I could go on, but it'd take forever.

I was only supposed to be there for three hours, but then some of the people who were supposed to take over didn't show, so I thought "Oh, I'll stay a little longer"...I stayed for two more hours. Had to listen to this strange 80's soundtrack over again that was playing through the store. I swear I heard "Go Go Godzilla". I made good money though. One nice woman gave me twenty dollars.

Oh, and I've recently discovered Beautiful Katamari. It took over my entire three day weekend.

Yup! The only one :D There were bumper stickers about it. They basically are like "Hey, don't look at us, we didn't vote Nixon" and they have a pic of Massachusetts.

However...

OMG SCOTT BROWN WON!

REPUBLICAN!!!! REEEEEEEEEEEEPUUUBLICAN! In Massachusetts! This is MADNESS!

Hi! I didn't pay much attention to the Massachusetts election, but I'll admit that I'm glad the Democrats don't have enough seats to automatically pass anything they want anymore. That's way too much power for a single party...

Congrats, Silver! Glad it all worked out for you!

Meanwhile I'm...still doing nothing interesting. Can't wait till I get all these job applications done...

Heso! On top of that, I've already ordered a new debit card, and according to the bank I should be able to get all my money back. Of course, that may take a while... fortunately, I recently sold all my books from last semester and according to Amazon (where I sold them), the money should be transferred to my account... pretty much the day before the new card would arrive. I got a total of $127 for my books. The amount of money stolen from my account? $123. So I'd pretty much break even for the time being. I can go for a week without spending money pretty easily, though I may have to borrow from Colly if I need gas... all things considered, though, this is going pretty well.

Now I just need to hope Heather doesn't want revenge and try to murder me!

Yeah, the book said that too! In there they had it as "Don't blame me, I'm from Boston".

When they talk about an election in the book, they provide an electoral map of the country. Funny map, that year's. The whole thing was yellow except for one little red Massachusetts :-P.
