I wish I could go to Japan, I even watched this show called Cake Boss where this guy made a white cake with cherry blossoms growing up the sides. And it was all made out of stuff you could eat, if I went to Japan the first thing I would want to do is find a cherry blossom tree.

Hi! The sakura trees are pretty, but they're only in bloom for two or three weeks a year (which weeks depends a bit on weather and what part of the country you're in, but most fall in the late March - April period), the rest of the time they look like pretty normal trees. I've got a ton of pictures of them in the March and April parts of my Japanese Travelogue, if you're interested.

Hey Josiah, have you ever seen the Chery Blossom festival in D.C.? It's really pretty, and with most of the trees on the bank of the Tidal Basin it makes a wonderful backdrop. You can also see the Washington Memorial towering over it all. All this beauty right in the comfort of your own country.

Hi! I've heard about it. I know that Japan gave the US a whole bunch of sakura trees as a present and they ended up in DC and all that. I've never been near DC during the right time of year to actually go though. I've seen pictures, but that's it.

Flying home today. Band camp starts tomorrow. Looks like they're trying to make it more camp-y, there's an overnight on Wednesday. Guess we're sleeping at the school... where, I dunno. Then, apparently, on Thursday at 1:00 we're going to the beach. That's like... a 45 min drive... it seems kinda random, but I'll take it :P

Gah... I've practiced trumpet twice this summer.... gonna have lost most of my lip muscles... gonna take a bit to re-gain that stamina. NOT FUN.

Anywho, I've also heard that the sections leaders and assistant drum majors are intent on giving more severe punishments this year. Late to practice = 20 push ups. Talking during stretches instead of counting = 20 push ups. Goofing off at practice so we don't achieve what was intended = one lap. And, mind you, these supposed punishments aren't individual. They make the person who is being a ninconpoop's section do these. That or just the entire band. Wheee... sounds like this'll be a fun year.

Regardless, I'm looking forward to it. Marching band is tons of fun.

Baaand camp starts today! 'Cept, this year it's at the high skool rather than in a land far far away (AKA a camp in New Hampshire). Combination of budget cuts and a buncha other stuff.

Y'know how last year I mentioned the only trumpets were the three freshmen trumpets? Well, I know for a fact that it'll be different this year! There'll be sophmore trumpets! And, I also know, there will be FOUR of us. My friend said he's joining this year. We managed to convince him into it :D. And, who knows, maybe more people will've joined. However, I heard the band this year is gonna be smaller than last year... that's saying something. Last year we were.... either 40 or 41. I heard this year is 35. :( C'MON JOO FOOLS, JOIN TEH MARCHING BAND OF AWESOME!

A-anywho, I'm excited to see everyone again. Minus all of last year's seniors . That'll make me sad... they'z gonna be gone... w-w-WAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH......... stupid graduation. Taking my friends away from me.... they're gonna do it again at the end of this school year! The nerve of some people! HMPH.

Does this mean that it's blasphemy to not be a Roman Catholic over there? I mean, if you're following one god's belief's instead of another, then you're offending the god you're not believing in, correct?

If I'm right, then that whole Ireland vs. Northern Ireland will get much worse.

Actually, I'm pretty sure the law applies to all religons, not just Catholicism. So you also get fined if you badmouth Protesantism, Judaism, Islam, Bhuddism, Hinduism, etc. I guess it's supposed to promote multiculturalism or friendship or some other crap, but it still just all seems weird and unnessecary.
