Polar: The Conquest
Moderators: Silver, shauni, Simeon
Bascially-there are two worlds, Earth, and Polar. In Earth, when someone gets bonded to an object really closely-that opens a portal to Polar-where their object turns into a weapon. And when they return to Earth-the weapon turns back into the object. If you attach something to the object (ie-like a necklace) it morphs with the object and comes apart of the weapon (ie, the necklace turns into a bow and arrow). And it turns back to normal.
So-the object changes entirely when they go to Polar into a weapon. Every day objects turns into swords, staffs, axes, crossbows, katanas, even guns!
And sometimes when adding items to your object doesn't make it better-it can make it worse
Earth and Polar are parallel dimensions. Every thousand years the dimensions come into alignment, allowing travel between the worlds by use of nexus gates which are scattered across the worlds.
On Earth, a tech firm run by a shady group of scientists and businessmen discovered the existence of polar ten years ago and were able to predict when the next alignment would take place. During that ten years they were able to create an interdemensional communicator and accidently got in touch with a powerful dark warlord from Polar. Soon the company and the warlord began working together, preparing (each in their own world) to take advantage of the upcoming alignment.
The company wants to harness the immense power generated by the nexus gates, using it to greatly expand their operations and destroy all competition. The warlord wants to use a combination of Polar's magic and Earth's technology to drive his conquest of Polar and eventually Earth as well. Although the two sides are working together at the moment, both plan to betray the other eventually.
Now the ten years of planning and preparation have passed. The alignment has begun.

Well, considering that I created most of the backstory for this thing I might as well join.
Oh, just to add a little more info (if Opal doesn't mind). The company, with the help of the warlord, has set up bases around most of the nexus gates between Earth and Polar, tightly regulating who passes in and out. Player characters who have visited Polar before the start of the RP have done so by finding one or more of the nexus gates that the company hasn't yet discovered. Oh yeah, let's say that three months has passed since the start of the alignment.
Name: Taizen
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Weapon/object: Chain With Blade on End/Pendant
Bio: With his dark coat and often unreadle eyes, Taizen looks every bit as mysterious as he acts. A loner, he first entered Polar the only hours after the alignment began and has spent considerable time world hoping since then. Although Taizen is not always the friendliest person, he tends to help those in need when he comes across them and can be fiercly protective when the situation calls for it.
Other: Taizen has spent more time on Polar than most. He seems to know much more about Polar, the company, and the warlord than he lets on.

I already made characters for this. Yay. I'm gonna have two as well, though they won't be related.
Name: Sydney.
Age: 51
Gender: Male
Weapon/object: Anchor/boat {{Yes, his weapon is an anchor. It's original and cool. Oh, and it's not one of those pansy tiny anchors like that lady from Marvel vs. Capcom. It's a real, full-size anchor. He's really strong.}}
Bio: Sydney was a giant {As in, really muscular} sailor for a long time. He crewed a very important ship, and he made enough money to buy one himself. When he wasn't sailing for a living, he sailed for fun. He got really attatched to his boat. He only got in to Polar recently, but hasn't had too much trouble fighting off any monsters.
Text Color: Orange.
Name:Joshua.
Age: 17
Gender:Male
Weapon/object:<a href='http://taiwan.pekori.to/samurai_garage/kusarigama.jpg' target='_blank'>kusarigama</a>/dice.
Bio: Han was always a gambler, and he always won. He believed it was because of his lucky dice {no, they aren't stacked}. And he carried them with him everywhere. He's been in Polar for a good while and has become rather adept at using his kusarigama with success.

Stevenson's Vocabulary Word of the Week:
Foment: (verb) To excite or arouse, i.e. 2014's Week of Randomness hopes to foment some activity on the forums.
Stevenson's Latin Phrase of the Week:
Brutum Fulmen: (senseless thunderbolt) This phrase, coined by Pliny the elder, is used to refer to an empty threat.

I'll stay with one character for now.
Name: Jaron
Age: 27
Gender: M
Weapon/object: <a href='http://www.dynasty-warriors.net/media/d ... eiYan1.JPG' target='_blank'>Voulge (Ignore the person holding it, just look at the weapon)</a>/Yo-Yo
Bio: Jaron hadn't been much of an 'in-crowder' during his youth. He had a select group of friends, but mostly he still kept with his friends. Mostly, he played with his yo-yo. He was rarely seen without it. Somehow, with some extreme convincing, his school teachers actually let him keep it. He's kept it to this day, practicing, and becoming skilled at it. He's only recently made it to Polar, finding it a strange world to inhabit...

Look at this signature. Isn't it the funniest and most hilarious signature you've ever seen?

Name: Shecil
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Weapon/object: Bone Staff (Guild Wars Ripoff)/Necklace with skull
Bio: Shecil was interested in Necromancy when he was 6. He didn't have any friends, because he was to busy studying Necromancy. Because he was being laughed at and beaten up at school every day for being ''Not like the others'' he developed a sort of resistance against emotional and physical pain. With his long ragged cloak and grey-ish clothes, he travelled to Polar, without having anyone know, but he just made it there.

Figured my weapon might need a clarification to differentiate it from Stevenson's. The chain is really long, smaller than a normal chain chain but thicker than a necklace chain, and nearly unbreakable. The blade on the end of a the chain is small and of a similiar design to the pendant that hangs from the chain on Earth. Taizen keeps one end wrapped around his right arm. He can use it as a mid range slashing weapon by swinging the chain around but often uses it to wrap around opponents arms, legs, necks, and the like and then either flinging them aside or pulling them into range of his fists.

Weapon/object: Spear/Feather
Bio: Yes, it's the infamous hat feather. You must be pretty attched to it if you continue to wear it despite SOME people constantly stealing it and going on and on about the bird flu and the chicken pox (You know who you are!) Right, so, Silver only recently found Polar - maybe a week ago - but since figuring out how to get there he practically hasn't left. He was always bored back home, but Polar's all... new and exciting and stuff.

"Irregardless" and "Over exaggerated" are NEVER CORRECT EVER because they are redundant
Regardless means "without regard", and adding "ir" on the front actually makes it a double negative; exaggerate means "to overstate" so you're literally saying "over overstate."
Example: I can not exaggerate the importance of this fact enough, regardless of how often people ignore it.

(w00t! 7:30 in the morning. Not a better time to start this.)
<span style='color:purple'>"Hey T'kina! Wait up!!" A purple haired boy carrying a fishing pole yelled, running after a girl riding a bike.</span>
<span style='color:pink'>"Alright, alright. I'll walk." The purple haired girl huffed, getting off the bike.</span>
<span style='color:purple'>"Thank you." The boy huffed, catching up to the girl.</span>
<span style='color:pink'>"Oh Ransom, don't have a heart atack now." The girl giggled.</span>
Meet the Corbalt (I dunno) twins. They frerw up together, and they're probably gonna die together since they're anti-social in Earth. Mainly because everyone makes fun of how they have purple hair. Hay! They were born like that. And they tried dieing it, no luck. So poor Ransom is known as being gay (Nya?) so he has no luck talking to anyone. And T'kina dicided to stay with her brother. But that desicsion was made by another way.
You see, both Ransom and T'kina both found something interesting one day in the summer time before high school started. Both were walking with their objects (which they never let out of their sights for several months. I don't know if Ransom ice fishes or not....Yeah, they're Canadians.) But they happened to stumble across a certain portal leading to a certain world. Polar. Though the first time they went there, they had a hard time figuring out what logically happened. But withen time, they got more use to Polar, and saw it as a second home. Heck, they even have a shack in Polar.
<span style='color:pink'>"I'm going first!" T'kina yelled, stopping beside a large oak tree.</span>
<span style='color:purple'>"Fine, fine." Ransom sighed, resting the fishing pole on his neck.</span>
<span style='color:pink'>T'kina smiled, touching the oak tree. It blurred and a small portal was visible. She walked right threw with ease.</span>
<span style='color:purple'>Ransom followed her.</span>
<span style='color:pink'>"Ah Polar. We are back!" A girl grinned, holding a sword.</span>
<span style='color:purple'>"Remember-we can't stay long. Mom wants us home this time for supper." Ransom pointed out, resting a staff on his soulder.</span>
As you can see, the Colbalt twins had transfer into another world threw a portal they had found on an oak tree. As they passsed threw each worlds, their item they were carrying transformed into a special item that would help them succeed in Polar. T'kina bears a sword, and Ransom bears a staff. He is able to do magic in Polar, but he is not very good at it. T'kina is the better combat fighter.
Also, if this was a tv show, you could clearly see that their clothes change.
T'kina was wear a hrey shirt and cargo pants, but that changed into green pants and a black armoured shirt.
Ransom was wearing a black shirt and jeans, but that changed into black pants, a white shirt with a symbol on it, and a red robe (that's his armour. it's more than just a robe)
<span style='color:purple'>"So what do you want to do?" Ransom asked.</span>
<span style='color:pink'>"I want to check out a town I heard that was around here. Myraid I think." T'kina said, looking for North.</span>
<span style='color:purple'>"Alright. A long as we don't go back to the Doomed Forest." Ransom scratched a scar.</span>
<span style='color:pink'>"I thought it was just a name." T'kina blushed as they walked off to Myraid.</span>
(So we're meeting in Myraid! And I guess i have a thing for writing too much. Meh.)

<span style='color:blue'>*As Taizen felt the familiar sensation of the world shifting away as he passed through the portal into Polar. He smiled briefly, a rare expression on his normally serious face, as his favorite pendant shifted into the effective yet unconventional weapon with which he had grown extremely proficient. The black trenchcoat his wore over his clothes shiftly slightly but, from an appearance standpoint, remained nearly identical. Although it was now made from a far stronger material.*
*Showing a casual familiarity with the place, he left the portal (and the crumbling ruins in which it lay) behind and set a quick pace towards the town of Myriad. He hadn't been able to reach the portal back on Earth as early as he would have liked and knew that he'd have to hurry if it wanted to make it in time. Arriving late certainly wouldn't help his plans.*</span>

''C'mon, lil' emo! What's the rush? I'll bet you would LOVE to stay with us!'' Frank ''Dah bully'' said.
<span style='color:lightgreen'>Even though you are evil, meaning you are my ally, I have no purpose to ''play'' with you.''</span> Shecil calmy replied.
''Then it's settled, you're DEAD.'' He furiously yelled.
<span style='color:lightgreen'>....crap....</span> Shecil thought.
As he ran for his life, climbing over hedges and using walls to hide, he had no other choice than jumping into the sewer.
As he removed the ''gate'' to the sewer and jumped in, a portal opened up, sending him to Polar.
<span style='color:lightgreen'>Light grey robe, dark brown shirt, grey jeans, gloves....These aren't my clothes!</span> He came to the conclusion.
<span style='color:lightgreen'>''Where am I exactly?'' He wondered, looking around, realizing his necklace turned into a staff decorated with skulls which have glowing green eyes.
...i wanna go home....</span> He sobbed.

Zanther was walking down the streets of Myraid this paricular day. He had discovered the town last week and has spent some time looking around. His whip was carefully conceiled under his black cloak. Though it might not seem easy to get it, for him it was. He had discovered Polar several months ago on one of his walks. He had always carried his computer with him and accidently had steped into the portal to this world. His computer had changed into a whip. And to his observation, an electric whip. He had used one when he was younger and quickly was able to handle it. And he had learned afew tricks with it too.
He steped into a nearby pub. He'd been here all morning and was hungrey. He had found it the first day he was here and so was becoming a fimilar face to some of the locals here. None yet knew he was not from this world or that he had a hidden whip. He hoped he'd never have to use it in town. He didn't care for fighting but if was forced to he would. The monsters here were intresting to say the least. He had afew close calls so far. Luckly he worked from home and didn't go into town much so noone asked questions when he went back to Earth.

<span style='color:blue'>*Despite his worries, Taizen arrived in Myriad with time to spare. Moving quickly through the streets, he eventually ducked into a shadowy alleyway and soon disapeared into the darkness.*
*About five minutes later he heard familiar footsteps approaching.* "Did you find it?" *he asked bluntly as the stranger approached.*</span>
"Of course. I always do." *the voice was that of a middle aged man.* "Everything you need to know is on here." *he handed Taizen a small scrap of paper.* "And my fee?"

"If you need anything else, you know how to find me." *The man walked off.*
<span style='color:blue'>*After commiting the contents of the note to memory, Taizen shredded the paper then strolled out of the alley.* "Tonight..." *He muttered.* "Looks like I have more time than I thought."</span>

The twins eventually made it to the town.
<span style='color:pink'>"What do you want to do first?" T'kina asked, looking at the shops.</span>
<span style='color:purple'>"I wanna get a drink!" Ransom smirked, as T'kina knocked him on the head with his sword (flat side)
</span>
<span style='color:pink'>"Just because we're legal age here doesn't mean we should. Gawd..." T'kina sighed</span>
<span style='color:purple'>"Then, what about a snack?" Ransom rubbed his stomach and head.</span>
<span style='color:pink'>"Fine..." T'kian rolled her eywes as they pulled into the pub.</span>

<span style='color:purple'>"I wanna get a drink!" Ransom smirked, as T'kina knocked him on the head with his sword (flat side)

<span style='color:pink'>"Just because we're legal age here doesn't mean we should. Gawd..." T'kina sighed</span>
<span style='color:purple'>"Then, what about a snack?" Ransom rubbed his stomach and head.</span>

<span style='color:gray'>"Let's go, magic feather!" Silver shouted, dashing out of his house after finishing his homework. He pulled his feather out of his hat (as it would be less than pleasant if it turned into a spear while so close to his head) and held it tightly as he ran straight into the rocky face of a hill; mind you, rather than going SPLAT, Silver wound up in Polar. Not to be confused with the polar ice caps. I wonder... are there Polar Bears in Polar? (Ok, ok, quiting it with the name jokes. Polar is a cool name. ...I'm sorry! That one just slipped out!)
Upon entering the alternate reality, Silver's clothes got bigger and more... armor-like, although not visually, and he spontaniously developped gray, fingerless gloves. Hey, you try holding a spear with anything else.
"And now, to town!" he said to himself, simply because he was excited and talking to himself seemed to help.</span>
