Opal sighed.
"Let a girl start this." She said, stepping forward.
"Willy, or what ever your name is, I challenge you!" Opal stepped forward onto the battle field....or more like a battle pool like type field.

Wet Willie appeared on the other side.
"I accept your challenge, girl. I do a double battle, and I will only two pokemon. You may use more. There is no time limit also." He said suavly.

"Sounds good." Opal took out two pokeballs. "Go, Horse-chan and Cream!" Horsea jumped into the water and Swablu flew above it.

"I summon you, Staryu and Marill!" Wet Willie sent out his pokemon who jumped into the water.

"Alright, let's do this. Horse-chan, use smokescreen!" Opal commanded as Horsea made a fog in the field. The Staryu and Marill couldn't see a thing. "Now Cream, use peck!" Cream flew out of no where, pecking both pokemon off-guard.

"Interesting. Staryu, rapid spin. Marill, water gun." He said as the Staryu spun at Horsea, and Marill shot a water gun at Cream.

"Try to dodge!" Opal yelled. Cream barely dodged it, but Horsea was unlucky.
"Shake it off!" She snapped as they attakced again.

(-skips ahead-)

Horsea had fainted a while back, and it was Mudkip and Cream against the other two.

"Finish it off with a mudslap and peck!" She yelled as the two finally fainted the Staryu and Marill.

Wet Willie returned his pokemon.
"You did a good job. And legal rules. blah blah blah, you win a badge and a TM-water pulse." He handed Opal the items.

"Awesome! Way to go team!" She smiled, returning Mud-chan and Cream. She collected her items and skipped to where the group was.
"Who's next?" She asked.

"Hmm?" *Glenn turned just in time to see Opal win her battle.* "I'll go after the next person. Third time is the charm and all that." *He promptly started watching the fish again.*

"Don't everyone jump up and volunteer at once." said Stevenson, stepping up to fight the gym leader.

"I accept your-" he began.

"Yes, I know, you'll be using two pokemon, I can use more, yadda yadda. Can I just get this over with?"

"As you wish. Go, Staryu asnd Maril!"

"Ok, let's go, Bubbles and Maya!"
The lotad and the wynaut popped out.

((I'll finish this later, a bit strapped for time now....))

"I guess I should probably watch this one." *Glenn rejoined the group.* "Since I'm fighting next and all it can't hurt to check out the gym leader's fighting style."

"Ok, maya, use absorb on the marril. Bubbles, use charm on the staryu." said Stevenson very politely.

"Arg! Grass! Marill, use rollout on the lotad. Staryu, use camouflage!"

"Aha! Bubbles, encore that Staryu's camouflage!"

Later.....

"And one last magnitude should do it!" said Stevenson as his numel ko'd the remaining staryu. Maya had been knocked out by the marril's rollout attacks earlier, though bubblees was still standing thanks to the incapacitating effects its encore had.....

"Excelent battle. I award you this badge and this TM." said 'Wet Willy'

((To keep things moving faster in the future, it might be best if gym battles were a team affair.))

"Ok, my turn." *Glenn stepped forward as Wet Willy summoned yet another staryu and Marril.* "I already know the rules so let's just get this started. Go bulbasaur and and eevee!"

"Agh, another grass type? Marril use rollout, Staryu use rapid spin, both of you attack the bulbasaur!"

"Eevee, sand attack marril!" *The sand attack struck causing rollout to miss although bulbasaur was still hit by the rapid spin.* "Now bulbasaur, vine whip the marril!"

"I hate fighting grass types..." *Wet Willy muttered as he returned the KO'd marril.* "Staryu, try another rapid spin."

"Another sand attack eevee." *Sand attack connected but staryu still landed its attack.* "Ok bulbasaur, finish it off with another wine whip!" *The attack KO'd the staryu.*

"Sigh... You did good." *Wet Willy handed Glenn his badge and TM.* "But I would like to fight more challengers who aren't using grass or electric types."

((Well, I didn't want to make the Gym battles themselves Team battles because not only could someone end up waiting for a long time for the other person to take their turn, but someone could end up doing all the work which means the other one hardly even deserved the Badge.))

"Then I take it it's my turn. Don't bother with the rules, I have ears, I just have to ask... you've been using the same Staryu and Marill every time, right? So how in the heck are they healed after every battle?!"

"Uh... a wizard did it?" Wet Willie suggested, releasing the same Staryu and Marril to battle.

"Makes as much sense as shoving bizarre creatures with power over the elements into tiny read and white balls, I suppose..." Silver mumbled, Twister jumping off his shoulder again and Stripe appearing from a Pokeball. "Both of you! Use Sand-Attack on the Marill!"

"Marill, use Rollout on the Pidgey! Staryu, get the Zigzagoon with Water Gun!"

Because of the two Sand-Attacks, Marill's Rollout missed by a long shot. Staryu's Water Gun did quite a bit of damage to the lower-leveled Stripe, though. "Good! Now, Twister, use Gust and Stripe, use Headbutt! Both of you attack the Marill!"

The Marill did manage to stay up, although it had been directly hit by both attacks. "Try Rollout again, Marill! Staryu, Use Rapid Spin on the Pidgey this time!"

The Marill's super-effective attack managed to connect by some odd stroke of luck, but Rollout isn't a very powerful attack to begin with. Unless you use Defense Curl before it. That doubles the power. But whatever. The Staryu's Rapid Spin hit, too, but Twister was tough and still ready for more. "Use Gust and Headbutt on the Marill again!"

The Marill finally went down, but the Staryu was kinda still at full health over there. "Arrg... come on, Staryu! Use Water Gun on the Zigzagoon!"

Because of its level disadvantage, that was about all Stripe could take; the little brown Pokemon returned to its Pokeball and was replaced by a Wingull. "Good try, Stripe... now, Twister, use another Gust, and Gulliver, try Water Gun!"

Water Gun may not have been very effective, but it did damage, unlike Gulliver's other two attacks. "Use Recover, Staryu!"

"Oh, you have GOT to be kidding me! Fine, we can use cheap attacks, too... Gulliver, Supersonic! Twister, Sand-Attack!"

"Water Gun! Get the Pidgey!"

The Staryu managed to overcome its confusion... only to miss due to the Sand-Attack. "Now! Use Gust and Water Gun!"

"Recover again, Staryu!"

Unfortunately, the Staryu hurt itself because of the confusion rather than restoring its HP... and somehow managed to knock itself out. "Hah! I hardly ever get that lucky!!"

Neo stepped up and quickly defeated Wet Willie (-Doesn't feel like typing out another battle-) which meant Rhianna was the only one that hadn't earned a badge yet. 

((You got a week, Mandi. If ya don't post the battle by then, you get your badge the same way Neo got his.))

(ACK! I knew too much Ragnarok Online was bad for me...><)

Rhianna was looking extremely nervous as she walked forward.

"I assume you already know the rules," Wet Willie said with a sigh, letting out his two Pokemon...again.

"Erm...yes..." Swallowing audibly, she let out Shroomish as Skye fluttered from her usual perch on the girl's shoulder. Shroomish looked even greener than usual, which made Skye fluff herself up in annoyance. Rhianna glanced down at Shroomish and whispered, "Don't worry, it shouldn't be too hard." Louder, she commanded, "Shroomish, use Absorb on the Staryu. Skye, Gust. Same opponent."

"Argh...another Grass-type. Woe is me." Then he was all business. "Marril, use Rollout on the Shroomish. Staryu, Water Gun. Target the Pidgey."

Shroomish panicked and ran as fast as it could out of the way--which was about half an inch a second--resulting in the Marril crashing into the base of the nearest aquarium. Rhianna groaned. "I doubt that's allowed..." Meanwhile, Skye was fluttering her wings furiously, shaking off the droplets of water remaining from the Water Gun. "Shroomish, Absorb on Staryu again. Skye, Sand Attack the Marril."

"Marril, same as last time. Staryu, Rapid Spin on the Shroomish."

"Don't run, Shroom, I think that's against the rules," scolded Rhianna. The green mushroom trembled, but the Marril missed. Not so with the Staryu. "All right, Skye, Gust the Staryu. Shroomish, use Stun Spore on Marril." Her Pokemon made a sound halfway between a squeak and a whimper. She sighed. The Stun Spore missed, mostly because Shroomish was trembling too hard. Skye scored a direct hit.

"Staryu, Recover. Marril, Rollout again."

"Is it just me or is this getting monotonous?" Rhianna thought to herself. "Keep it up, guys. Skye, use Gust on Marril. Shroomish, continue to use Absorb on Staryu."

(Several Sand Attacks, Gusts, Absorbs, missed Rollouts, Rapid Spins, a Recover, and a Potion later...)

"Okay, finish it off with a last Absorb. Skye, Gust on Marril."

"Argh," groaned Willie as the starfish Pokemon fainted. "Get the Shroomish with Rollout, Marril!"

"Absorb and Gust!" The combo finished off the weary Marril. "Geez, that took the longest..."

"Healing sounds fun." Opal smirked as the group descended from the gym and made their way to the centre.

"Would you like to get your pokemon healed?" Nurse Joy asked.

"No...." Opal rolled her eyes as her three pokemon got healed.

"Well, that's one gym down and seven to go." *Glenn commented as he took his pok?mon back from Nurse Joy.* "Hey Silver, you know where to go next right?"

"Yeah..."

"Good, then I'll just follow you for a while. Saves me the trouble of having to find a route and all that. Now, who's up for some food?"
